Re: Komet K60 or Concord Layout
I have put off buying a Larry Mann cab for my Rocket amp. The idea was to wait till I built my Express but I don't have a need for an amp that loud. I have thought of running it with 6V6's but it will still be loud.
Tell me about your Larry Mann cabs?

I agree with you, I can't handle loud amps without master volumes.

I drool every time I see those, Mark. I've had two of Larry's cabs and they are beautiful. The man does killer work.

All the cabs look great, in fact the middle cab looks sensational. Thanks Mark.

Mark,
Here is one of Larry's. Not a great photo but you can see the insane chatoyance.

Agreed it's quite beautiful, though I had a Homer Simpson moment: Chatoyance is an optical phenomenon in which a band of reflected light, known as a "cat's-eye," moves just beneath the surface of a cabochon-cut gemstone. Chrysoberyl and tiger's-eye are two of the best-known gem materials that exhibit this phenomenon.

Does Larry put info the plate such as volume bass treble etc as well the animal picture between the controls and the on/off and standby switches?
How do you do the nuts on the pots tight enough without crushing the wood on the front panel yet getting a good solid earth connection?

Yes, he had my faceplates laser engraved.
You can tighten them down. But for me, I do not rely on the pots for ground. I used a preamp ground bus bar and tie that to the input jack. The power amp (capacitor) grounds are tied to the chassis per the usual Trainwreck format. How do you do the nuts on the pots tight enough without crushing the wood on the front panel yet getting a good solid earth connection?

Beautiful cabs. Wow.
Re: Komet K60 or Concord Layout
I use CTS for Mojotone pots they are 3/8" diameter, threads are 3/8" long to go through chassis and faceplate without worrying about threads and I do like Colossal does separate ground wires or run a buss wire not soldered to the pots.

Re: Komet K60 or Concord Layout
Hey guys, Is it possible to change a K60 into a K50? If so, What all has to be done? I'd like to have an amp tech do it for me. I live in Portland OR BTW- Can anyone recommend a tech for this job? Thanks!!

Have a search about this forum for info on the differences between an F60 and F50.
