Hiyo!
Been dabbling in cab building. I have been selling the 1x12 and am now developing a head cabinet, and a 2x12 . Eventually a 1x15(Tweed Pro style ).
It's been a while since I have posted, so thought I would post some pics. The speaker cab pictured is a test mule that has found its way to my regular rotation. The head cab built for a 5e3.
This cab has been "crash tested." If you look closely to the right upper corner, that gap and "damage" are the result of falling off my truck tailgate. About 3' direct impact on the corner .... I'm pleased.
Fresh off the bench!!!

Nice work! Are you planning to tweed the cabs as well? I've often thought Fender cabs would benefit visually with a bit of piping though I would be inclined to use a walnut strip or two.

No tweed yet. I agree on the piping, Since these are test mules, I'll toy around with ideas .

No roundover? Those are some pretty sharp edges/corners.

Edges are "eased," to avoid injuries and to try to stave off any "peeling" back of the wood when an edge get a dinged. I considered rounding over, and still may for production cabs, though I prefer the sharper edge profile.
I suppose if it's a gigging musician, I should definitely round the edges over. Thanks for bringing this up. I need to revisit I think . Appreciate it!!!

It's easier on the tolex also, if the cabs to be covered.Madcapwoodwright wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2026 4:22 pmEdges are "eased," to avoid injuries and to try to stave off any "peeling" back of the wood when an edge get a dinged. Yes, agreed. Leaning more toward Tweed if I cover them at all. Right now, oil and wax.
