Re: What're you listening to right now??
Seeing that Joe Maphis video reminded me of a time I walked into a local studio in New Mexico.
A friend was running a session and I heard some travis picking going on.
I commented about how that guy really had that travis picking down.
He said "He ought to, he is Merle Travis."
I watched Merle Travis and Joe Maphis lay down more than 50 tracks over the next 2 days.
This was back in the late 70's for an album called Country Guitar Giants.
They were both amazing.

Joan Baez said for you to shut your mouth or she would open hers.

Last time I heard her she couldn't find pitch. She was within 5 cents but no better. I think she's losing her hearing.

Larry Coryell, "The Essential" compilation popped up on YT. Dial the time machine back 50 years - I had some of his LP's back then, also his band Eleventh House played my college a couple times. Some gnarly tones there, also lots of awesome innovative playing. With this kind of music I don't need a second cup of (caffeinated) coffee today. Have a listen yourselves, jazz rock fusion from the days when it was still GOOD! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma5rwScPTRw

It is actually not much "new under the sun". I hear bits and pieces of songs from the past on the whole album. Nuno just rocks... No two ways about it. I think I may get a Rat and use it the way he describes in Beato's recent interview... If you like the link above your may find the interview very interesting.
