@ DMK
Nice looking finger joints , marshall style ? Did you cut two boards at the same time ? seems like it might work.

Lots of good info coming out on this thread. Thanks I am learning.

dmk - Wow! Those are some superb joints. What kind of rig do you have?

The rig I use is prone to error, takes forever to set up - using a bunch of test pieces before I can get it close enough to do anything near usable.

First attempt (pine):

Second try (oak):

These are serviceable but nothing like yours. That's why I ask about your rig.

Much thanks ! The woodwork is always hidden under tolex, but I know what's there. ;-)
I'll grab some pics of my jig today. I use a sacrificial board behind the material being cut to keep the baltic birch from chipping. Always have scraps of 1/4" hardboard around from making templates !
My saw is a Delta Unisaw that's served me very well for 11-12 years now.

Very clean work both of you.

Plywood is unforgiving. I tape both sides and use a backer board, but saw had to be perfect. No wobble, fence perfectly parallel.

I bought the Porter Cable dovetail jig on CL. I think it is limited to 12" board widths without removing the template and clamping it to the work itself. It did okay.
