Re: ODS #183 PCB build.
Sorry, but it's not a 'generic claim'. It's absolutely factual. The schematic(s) is incorrect. As far as leaving the 'cryptic pronouncement', well yeah, I'm tempted to leave it just as is. I reached out by PM for some pretty darn generic help and didn't get so much as a FU as a reply here. I don't f...

Re: ODS #183 PCB build.
Both have a significant error that makes a big difference/change in the tone on a 183.

Re: Value of drive Pot
Popped in a 152K Piher resister in front of the level pot and can hardly believe the improvement! Also changed out the Redplates 2 position fat/thin switch (changes the 1st cathode bypass from .68 to 4.7uf) to a 3 position: both @ .68; 1 @ .68 with 1 5uf, or both @ 5uf’s. Getting really darn close; ...

Re: Value of drive Pot
Don’t think I want to go higher than the 180K…in fact I’m going to drop in a 150K today and taste. If good, I’ll adjust snubber values from there.

Re: Value of drive Pot
Yes, the 25pf was a bit too bright for my taste, and the 270pf too attenuated, which is how I ended up at 94pf.
I do wish I had dropped the series resistor value down from the 180K before changing the snubbers.

Re: Value of drive Pot
Hi CW
I lowered the snubbers and changed the rest of the values for a straight clone of #183 in Drive 1.

Re: Value of drive Pot
Yes, still 94pf.
Henry is a great guy, but I think I wore him out with questions regarding a switching schem and I best leave him alone. ; )

Re: Value of drive Pot
Thanks CW, that of course makes great sense. I’ve settled on a drive pot that measures 212K and that sounds great. Very fat and dynamic with a bottom end that is still very workable with tons of gain on tap (I can still easily dial in smooth and buzzless OD). I’m going to tinker with the series resi...

Re: Value of drive Pot
I’ll give the 200K a go and see what it sounds like. I do understand the higher value = more gain, just thought it weird it changed the top end so much; though that might be the snubbers, which would make more sense. I don’t have a clip, guess I could make one. But I would use the analogy of trying ...

Value of drive Pot
So, I've been tweaking the first (non HRM) OD section of my Redplate Cosmic Dust towards the fat, single note honk of Dumble #183. I first tried a 250K 'drive' pot instead of the Redplates stock 100K (250K is stock for the volume pot) and it did get me closer to where I want to go...but maybe too mu...

Has anyone tried the 'LaMar' MV in an AC30? Results?

First my apologies...2nd; has a general consensus been made
...on a 'best' (I know, I know, sorry!) master volume for an AC30? I've tried to read thru so many opinions and all, my head is spinning. I assume a PPIMV? I would like to avoid power scaling right now. I apologize again for any redundancy. I'm hoping I'm narrowing it down by being amp specific, and...

Has anyone built a choke input supply amp?
...and if so what did you think? Stiff? Quiet idle? I'm curious, I have a few monster chokes and I'm considering the experiment.
