Marshall - It's Alive & Kickin

Post by Bob S »

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to post some awful pics of a soon to be marshallish build.
Ampmike built the cab. Amazing work.
The pics don't come anywhere near doing it justice.
A huge Thank You to Mike.
It is stunning !
Brittish racing green.
Weber chassis & Mojo plates. Thanks to Mark Fowler.
This amp will have to be a bit special...
Heyboer TW PT, Mercury JTM45 OT & choke.
Got to clear the bench before I start...

If you're going to order resistors and caps, consider ordering duplicates for me. Let me know!

Nice job!

Just finishing up my combo cab today prior to covering.
Also had an email from MC that the 50w multi HV PT will be available end of January, looking forward to that :)

I will post some pics up soon, also had a neat little nameplate made up by Modulus in the old Marshall block logo style.

JCM800 style, carefully modded and running in a vintage very British style cab - a fitting tribute to Jim Marshall.

For a change and partly because of the crazy price of 18 and 15mm Baltic birch ply in the UK, I used a 8.75" 21mm pine board for the box with an 18mm MDF baffle. Feels pretty light for a 50w so far!

Oh no! Bob's gone green! I need to torch a gallon of gas on my lawn to offset this tragedy.

Looks great! Let's see some gut shots...

This may come in handy for anyone using this chassis, so I thought I'd keep
updating.
Nuts & bolts stuff almost done.
Added a 9 pin socket - real close to the input jacks.
It'll be either very quiet or the other thing...
With TW clones I've had good luck with V1 as close as possible to the input.
Still debating about which pre-amp.
Ideally I'd like another 9 pin socket to play with.
Added a foot switch socket & 3 over-ride switches.
I'm thinking 3 relays will be added later.

More than twice what I got done today! I like the tube over there. I think that probably works fine.

You lay the stuff out on the deck like you might have done this before. :)

My least favorite thing - filament wiring.
1st attempt late last night.
This morning somehow it had transformed into the ugliest wiring job ever.
Re-did this morning - color coded to avoid phasing issues.
Still managed to get the phasing wrong - AAArghh.
Third attempt looks good enough - I really don't want to re-do it again.
I was intending to use a grounded CT.
Now I'm thinking elevated.
The wiring is quite close to the input jacks.
May end up with dc filaments.

So true. I tried just wiring them in parallel straight across the amp like the SLO style. Dead quiet and no twisting. Wiring filaments sucks
