Re: Deluxe Reverb replica build
Happy to see this thread. I've ordered all the parts for my build: Mojotone cab and chassis, Hammond iron, Jensen N12K speaker, PCB from Andrea <https://www.aaelectronicspcb.com/produc ... reverb-pcb>. Hope to start building next week.
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

Planning a single channel, non tremolo, AB763 build sometime in not to distant future and came across this transformer builder in Portland.

Listened to a Fretboard Journal podcast

where the owner of Soursounds was answering questions about transformers. Some of you may cringe at the source, but seemed legit enough to look into his work. Pricey, but maybe worth it. Just OTs for the DR at this point. Soursound transformers are used in Benson amps for one. There's a pretty long Bensen thread on AG.

I have my solandfa DR Kit but that is all so far. Still putting a bill of materials list together. Hoping for good Black Friday deals.
Thanks Martin for all the work you put into this.

Re: Deluxe Reverb replica build
On the rectifier socket you used diodes to protect a short from the rectifier to the PT output.
The wires from the PT go to pins 7 and 5 which are unused and from there the diodes connect to pins 6 and 4
What diodes did you use?
Are they IN4001?

1N4007, 1kV 1A. If the vacuum rectifier shorts they will need all of that 1kV.
Re: Deluxe Reverb replica build
On the ground scheme pic it states "PI and LDR NW Ground" but I do not see a ground lug to the chassis. Where do you attach too?
Also the Ceramic Disk caps, what brand are they and who who did you source from?
In my my early stage build I only count 6 ground lugs.
- Reverb Tank Ground
- BC- Ground
- Preamp Ground
- PT Ground
- Earth Ground
- Rectifier Socket
Thanks, Todd

Speaker jack ground terminal.
I used Vishay Sprague NP0 ceramics, sourced from Mouser.

I found this useful in explanation:

However trying to get Class 1 for all the ceramic disks is not easy to find.
Just wondering if you had a mix of class 1 and 2 ?
Here are the Manufacturer part numbers I have that are available to order in today's supply chain craziness.
I am sure these would work but am I going down the wrong path with any of these?

Re: Deluxe Reverb replica build
I swapped film caps in for some of the spots that had ceramics in originals (check the photos), and I probably didn't worry about the trem oscillator caps. 99% sure the treble caps and bright cap are NP0. I'd have to look inside to be sure, but the amp doesn't live here.
Re: Deluxe Reverb replica build
The OT is a 1750H, which is also supposed to match BFDR spec. In a recent thread, the wire colors on a Hammond transformer were found to be reversed wrt primary-secondary phasing. I found the same in this case, which is odd since the exact Fender PN is referenced here too. Hammond's documentation (which is more complete than most manufacturers provide) indicates the phase, so I was able to wire it correctly straight away.

Based on phasing comment:
What color wire was used for TIP on output?
Green or Black

Re: Deluxe Reverb replica build
Martin, you have a number of components in orange, that are different than the original. Might you comment on the effect of changing these various components. In particular I am curious about (all of them) the swap of 56k for 100k on the cathode of V5. I have a DR here that I just re-capped and it had the 100k instead of the 56k, all other components are per the AA763 schematic. I see that the AB763 has 100k.
Hang on its got grid stoppers so must be AB763. Still interested in the changes you made.
Thanks A

Re: Deluxe Reverb replica build
On the 100k vs. 56k, the AB763 schematic shows 100k, and in photos of original '65 DR I see 100k. Which other components are you referring to? I swapped some film caps for ceramics in a couple of places.
Re: Deluxe Reverb replica build
Hi Martin, no worries, I sorted it out.
thanks
