Dan Fogelberg RIP

Post by skyboltone »

I don't know if you guys heard. Dan died yesterday of prostate cancer.

I can literally say that there hasn't been a day go by since my own fathers passing in August when I haven't heard "The Leader of the Band" go in my head.

Great songcraftsman, player, and man. Go with God Dan.

I learned of Dan's music while in college (early 80's). I especially enjoyed "Nether Lands" - it is a wintertime album for me. Something about it just sounds like winter. I would listen to it as I drove from SC to Nashville on I-40 in western NC (Pisgah National Forest) in January and it just seemed to fit the scenery and temps. I guess there was a bit of the Colorado mountains in his music.

I also really enjoyed the "Twin Sons of Different Mothers" album with Tim Weisberg. Great tunes.

Dan was a very talented man, and shared his talent well.

Sad indeed. He was only 56! That's way too young.

That is a terrible way to go and given the time of year I'm sure it is hard on his family. Hopefully he is at peace not and the his family can find some comfort in that.

Rest in peace Dan and thank you for the music you left us with
