I’m old school (60s & 70s rock), but I love me some Clutch!
…plus I can totally cover this one like so many of their others.
They play that pocket perfectly…
…plus I wanna hear “The Elephant Riders” played during a half-time show of an Alabama game!
ROLL TIDE! (my alum)

I started listening to these guys again because they played at the taylor hawkins tribute, man this band is so badass.
Can't go wrong with John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl, and Joshua Homme. (Alain Johannes is the second guitarist and pretty damn amazing in his own right).
The guitar sound/tone Josh has for this band is absolutely gnarly. It's why i wanted to build the Gibson EH-185 it's one of the amps he used on tour with this. I'd love to see them do a second record!

Lexington lab band on YouTube. Pretty darn good covers. Guitar work is session quality. Well all of it is pretty close to session quality.

I've been watching them for a few years. There is a revolving cast of talented local musicians. I think they are spot on and very professional. Watch some of the interviews where they talk about the process. They typically rehearse once or twice and then record. Always worth watching, even if what they play isn't my taste.

I was lucky enough to see Them Crooked Vultures in Austin, TX. Fantastic show and....John Paul Jones!pompeiisneaks wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 4:05 pm Can't go wrong with John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl, and Joshua Homme. (Alain Johannes is the second guitarist and pretty damn amazing in his own right).

Re: What're you listening to right now??
Anyone else like to give themselves musical whiplash? I was born in 1982, and my stepdad listed to a lot of country. Having Apple Music, I've created an 80's Country playlist that's stuff I remember hearing on the radio when I was little. I also have a 90's Alternative playlist that was stuff I heard when I was a slightly older kid and got to listed to whatever I wanted. Probably gonna have an 80's pop/rock list soon, as my Mom used to listen to that type of stuff (Phil Collins, Bryan Adams, John Mellencamp). Needless to say, sometimes I spend too much time on Apple Music at work...

It was a great show. It was held outdoors in a small-ish beer garden kind of venue....ok, a corral for people. The sound was loud but perfect and not even fatiguing. JPJ did a solo piano section reminiscent of his Zeppelin interludes. You could hear how a lot of Zeppelin orchestration and rhythms originated in his style. But everyone was great and 'Vultures was a real supergroup in every sense of the word.
