18watt Trex/Marshall

Post by geekmacdaddy »

I think I have it finished. Here are clips of the Trainwreck and marshall sides, going through a lopoline (used to be SS Cabs) 2/12 cab, with 2 sammi 40 watters. Playing my '62 re-issue strat with JB humbucker in the lead position. ProTools 24bit, 44.1 recorded with an SM 58 mic

yo geek ..

which schematic did you use?

Is that a closed-back SS cab?

the clips sound real good. When I built a 36W version of the T-rex it was very bright with an open-back cab but probably a perfect match for those bassy sounding SS cabs closed-back compact cabs.

Thanks Krash,
The design was a cross between a MarkH layout, and a Plexi layout, re-drawn by Gabi, and tweaked further by a bunch of helping hands. Yeah, a closed back SS cab. I'm a bit bummed though, cuz I played a gig with it, this weekend in a med/large club, and it didn't have the balls to cut it. Gotta build something with more head-room now.

sorry to hear that. It's the Sammi speakers man! Put a pair of Wizards in that cab and it'll probably cut the mustard. What a difference 9 dB makes.

A couple H30's might do the trick also. Phil
