Reading Material on Steroids!
The one thing that I find the forum lacks, is that in the forum files there
should be a basic tube electronics file with informational resources and
small projects for those who want to begin.
You shouldn't feel like your jumping into the water, not knowing whether or not
you can swim at all.
The problem with the information age is the lack of information. The are plenty of PDF books that are in the public domain.
Why isn't there at least a file of links.....

Re: Reading Material on Steroids!
Very good..... I'm nearly done with work this week, I should be able to get on it tomorrow Am.
I'm also very sure there are many links common to forum participants, so please jump in.
It seems also that a couple three very basic projects that can be achieved
with a soldering iron, multimeter, a calculator, and a hand full of parts,
should find a place too. Simple and CHEAP, I know there are many who
have gone with kits very successfully, but you have to consider those who really want to,
but for who even the investment of $100 would be a significant
barrier. It seems we're back to the 40's.
Here's a few links off the bat.
https://schematicheaven.net
www.pmillett.com
http://www.freeinfosociety.com/media_in ... 13&start=0
www.aikenamps.com/
www.audioxpress.com/
store.triodestore.com/
www.bonavolta.ch/hobby/en/audio/index.html
mhuss.com
https://hiwatt.org/
http://www.valvewizard.co.uk/
I know this just scratches the surface and I do know that some are more
accessible or appropriate, but its a start.
Mod Edit: editing some dead links etc.

Getting started...
I took the long "peeling the onion" route, and I still have a lot to learn but this article made a lot of things click for me;
http://boozhoundlabs.com/
And for guitar amp stuff, mods, and general tube knowledge Mr. Fishers "Trainwreck pages" is still one of the best;
https://robrobinette.com/The_Trainwreck_Pages.htm
And this book seems to follow me around the house, my favorite tube amp book;
http://www.tgpwebzine.com/?page_id=784
This is the first amp I built, fun, cheap and sounds good;
http://www.the-planet.org (site up, no longer has the tube amp schematic)
Actually I take that back...it sounds terrible, don't try and find any 6em7 tubes they're really expensive and sound really really bad (but if you do find any you can send them to me).
In fact this is a terrible hobby and not very fun or rewarding... Oh yeah and it's dangerous too!

You should re-title the thread now to reflect what it contains.

Can I add this?

The tone stack calculator saves a whole lot of time and maths, a quick easy way to learn which part does what in a tone stack. Much other good stuff here too.

I've posted these along with others in the past, I know some members here have found them interesting.
Australian Tube Hi Fi site, very good on diy transformer winding techniques amongst other things:

Re: Reading Material on Steroids!
NEETS is a great resource. It's designed to train anyone previously unfamiliar with electricity and electronics. Here is a linkie where you can download the entire series for free:
http://www.phy.davidson.edu/instrumentation/NEETS.htm
Module 6 is the one on tubes, especially preamp triodes. Highly recommended.
If your not familiar with electronic principles, start at Module 1.
