Part acquisition...

Post by dehughes »

Hey there,

Wooohooo.....new forum. :)

Anyway, what are some great online sources for high-quality tube amp parts like sockets, teflon wire, solder, terminal strips, potentiometers, and other hardware? I'm aware of a few places online, but nowhere that sells a ton of high-quality stuff. One thing I'm looking for are EL84 tube retainers like what Matchless uses....super cool, but can't find them.

Thanks in advance!

I'll tell you all my secrets, but I lie about my past.

Assuming you are in NA, here are a few places I like:

http://www.tubesandmore.com/
http://www.tubestore.com/
http://www.e-sonic.com/acc/home.aspx they stock teflon wire here, in 100' spool though.
http://www.partsconnexion.com/

and the ubiquitous Mouser http://www.mouser.com/

It is hard if not impossible to find everything you need in just one place. I do shop around.

Those are exactly what I'm looking for. I've been to Apex Jr. before, but that S2amps place is EXACTLY what I'd had in mind. THANK YOU MALT!

Right on! This is the most helpful board ever! I've found more of what I've asked for here on this board in two days than I've found in two weeks of asking around elsewhere! Thanks much!

Newbie here, figured I'd throw in a suggestion as well:
www.tubeampparts.com
The owner's name is Mark and he's a pretty nice and helpful guy.

Hmm... Are you Mark?

I will stay away from this one. I have ordered there once and it was awful. Does not answer on the phone or emails. Mastercard got my money back.
