6.3 VAC elevated center tap

Post by Cartman »

For a 6.3V heater winding that also powers a dc power supply for relays, can the center tap be elevated to the power tube bias voltage (29 Vdc)? Or, will doing that be a problem for the relay power supply? The relay board is by Hoffman and rectifies 6.3 VAC to 5.0 Vdc

Apologies for the hand drawn diagram. Note: The two 0.165R resistors are there to drop the voltage to the tubes a bit(from 7.1 to 6.0 VAC).

You can do that as long as no part of the Hoffman circuit is connected to chassis ground. That includes any footswitch jacks too.

Thanks. The relay circuit is isolated from the chassis.
