Fisher 500 Output Transformer rewinders?

Post by skyboltone »

I just picked up a couple of these trannys off E-bay. One is supposedly burnt up due to a shorted tube, the other is fine.

Anyone have direct experience with these transformers for guitar amp work?

There is a fair amount of iron there. I may have someone rewind the dead one with 50 Watt capacity windings. A couple of 6CA7s running around 450-475 VDC.

Mercury comes to mind for the rewind, any others out there to think about?

Thanks in advance
Dan

Is that the model that used 7591 output tubes originally?
If so, I've got two of them (and the PT) that I'd be willing to let go for less than a rewinder would charge, I assure you. If you might be interested, reply here and we'll discuss off-list. (I'm not hot to move them, but there's no sense in them sitting around not being used.)
