I got my stuff as well but the lack of communication really puts me off.

I don't think he is a rip off, he just has a different opinion in how a business should be run.

There is only one way to run a *successful* business and that is very simple.

Give your customers what you promised them, when you promised it.

NO EXCUSES. If you can't do it someone else eventually will.

I deal with this every day in my "day job" which involves individual orders between $500,000 and $50,000,000 each.

Credibility is ESSENTIAL. If you don't have that, you have nothing to offer and should not be in business.

Now the company runs the risk of poor quality because it has to run operations on double time to play catch up on back orders.

Once they reach normal operations they better keep on with over run for a while so this doesn't happen again.

I bet costs goes up now as well due to material supplier price increase.

That's good news. I like their stuff but you have to have your ducks together and your s**t in a row in business, well you know what I mean!

I've placed a couple of orders with them, and always gotten my stuff. At times some values have been out of stock.

Really, they should be charging 2-3X what they are now for the handmade caps. Mundorf, V-cap, Audio-Note, etc are all 20X what these are. It would add a couple bux only to the cost of an amp, and the guy could make enough profit to afford more inventory.

It probably has more to do with getting supplies on time and having good help to build the product. Have you tried to hire and train anyone lately, it seems common sence isnt so common.

Handmade? I don't think caps were handmade in 1925, maybe in 1870 when batteries were still in apothecary jars. That's what the industrial revolution was all about. His regular line is certainly OEM - I'm sure to his specs and I'm sure as good as everyone says they are. I intend to try some but I honestly wouldn't want them if handmade, when it comes to engineering give me consistency and reliability especially at 600V.

I'm sure he has an accountant and his margins are just fine, if not the finest already, at least on paper. Whether his small business lives up to his expectations and survives all the complexities small businesses are subject too is an other matter.

This rant goes for pickups too, time to replace 'handmade' with 'made in house' or 'small batch'.

Maybe I'm wrong and someone else knows more about making these things?

Their site claims the 'Vintage' ones are are.

"The difference between the Mustard Cap Vintage™ and Mustard Cap Standard™ lines is that the Vintage capacitors are made entirely by hand, with no machine automation. This is the only way to achieve this level of performance and sound."
