Re: Dumbleator Layout
Hi talbany , great work and clear layout! , there is a schematic or layout with serial/parallel mode well tested?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Dumbleator Layout
Here are some more diagrams.
The Series/ Parallel layout is UNTESTED so builder beware.
But you can see how the bypass switch is wired.

This is the one I built using a Fender standalone power transformer.
So pay attention to the resistors and power supply.

Re: Dumbleator Layout
Both of the schematics here seem to have an error. I think the 10M / 22nF / 10M string from the plate of V1B should return to the grid, not the wiper of the Return Level pot. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Dumbleator Layout
I believe that is the way HAD did it, since the schematic was provided by someone who claimed to be among the illuminati. As shown it rolls off about 3dB at 10 kHz vs. taking the NFB to the grid.

Re: Dumbleator Layout
Hi Martin,
Thanks for the info. My point of reference is from some of the D-Style amp schematics that I've studied - they have the network connecting directly to the grid. Is there a chance the amp schematics are wrong?
Just seems odd...
Thanks,
Lou

Re: Dumbleator Layout
I built a Dumbleator from a D'Lite kit. I like the way they thicken up a non HRM amp, I'm not a big fan of the Dumbleator with the HRM amp.

Re: Dumbleator Layout
I made this up for someone, they didn't like the idea of having to pull the whole thing out of the case and open it up so they could replace the tube. The black box offers the tube some protection. I've put the picture up as I think that it is a worthwhile modification to the Dumbleator.

Re: Dumbleator Layout
Both schematics here are right. I have verified it against a few Dumble amps and one Dumbleator in real life. JelleJazzGuitarGimp wrote:Hi Martin,

jacks
Chris, in you version of the Dlator, it appears that you are grounding the jacks at the sleeve through their connection to the chassis. Some builds have discussed isolating the jacks. Have you had any issues your way…loop hum?
