Eq's in Dumble 50w out of

Post by Oddvar R »

Hi. I was hoping to not asking you guys for advice, but the Eq section in my Dumble 50w build is not active. I was wondering if this might be a quick fix, or I have to go through all the paths again? (I have, but I can't see any obvious reason for this.)

Loss of connection from tone stack to ground? PAB engaged?

Do you also have much more gain than expected? Maybe the 510p treble cap is shorted somehow? Or indeed no ground connection on the tone stack. Some pictures might help.

The controls work in the jazz-settings, but non responsive in rock-settings?

Maybe a failed R/J switch that is not closing in Rock setting, resulting in PAB? Measure resistance across switch pins.

The DPDT switch measure 0.5 ohms in all positions. A measured a new one, same result?

All the switches seem to work, ecept the Treble/Bass/Mid- section in when in Rock-setting.

As Martin says, RJ not engaging correctly results in tonestack lift ie PAB. If you put a correctly functioning RJ switch in centre position you will hear the boost.
Check the wiring around RJ and of course PAB manual switch and relay.

I changed the switch, the only difference is that the bass pot is giving some kind of reaction when turned, and the treble might have a relativelive weak reaction. Could it be a change to 500k pot will change anything?

Do you have slide or toggle switches installed?

Ok. I've installed toggle where slide were shown on the layout, wired them like the layout and the switch operated "upside down" :? . Just wanted to make sure you had not done the same thing. You have the same type as the layout so you should be good, but wouldn't hurt to double check. On my builds (newer generation) ROCK setting TMB is much more effective than on JAZZ.

Is there a very audible change in the pot ride or is it rather subtle?
