What is everyone's opinion about Solid Oak for cabinets?
Re: Best wood for speaker cabinets?
I've done a couple in white oak. I like the look [quarter sawn - mmmm yummy!] and they sounded like every other speaker cab I've ever built. The whole tone wood is a bit overblown and very subjective. Not a lightweight wood though.Bombacaototal wrote:What is everyone's opinion about Solid Oak for cabinets?

Is it mostly similar to a birch ply as far as sound and weight?

Pretty much on the weight. Here's a great resource I use for wood weight and workability questions -
