Fooling around with a idea I think one of the members posted awhile back.It only took a 1/2 hr to clamp up and looks cool. The maple was a little birdeye and the strips were purple heart.Im going to add another pc and maybe use it for a head cab front.Im going to slice some dark walnut with maple and see which looks better. The purple would be nice with some tolex to match.Or mabe dye the maple part maroon. Its a lot of fun messing with wood

Re: Stringing
That's really cool, do you have any links on how to do it? Thanls.

I just pushed the board as smoothly as possible through the band saw so its not a choppy cut. Then cut some thin slices of purple heart for some color.Glue all sides and put it back together.Bam!One board with a thin slice of color.Ill try to find the article you can do a lot more than this. This is just scratching the surface. Now just putting some tolex, need some corners, feet and handle. This would be for a 18 watt build ,14& 3/8 x 2&1/2Thanks,Mikey

Re: Stringing
i think what hes asking and what i was wondering is how you cut the purple to match so well, even to the whole path. looks cool.

The purple is just very thin strips cut on the table saw.I think there was four used there. They have to be thin enough so they dont break when glueing it all together.I used to put curved oak railings together. They made the rails the same way.Small pcs. so they bend and glue several together. When its done and sanded it looks like one strip.Hope that helps, Next would be doing a 77inch board than bookmatching the four sides for a head cab.It would look like the string runs all the way around the cab {like one piece]Thanks,Mikey

That's part 1 of 7
This is how you do it for an entire sleeve so the strings match all the way around.
