Simple AC15?

Post by jhawk »

Ok, when I say simple I don't mean 5F1 simple, but has anyone worked out an AC15 with only Bass, Treble, and Volume? Or something similar?
I'm just looking for a real simple top boost sound and I want it to be light.

Here's a couple ideas
have built both
TC15 is a little more versatile but
I actually like the BN Voxy circuit a little better...EF86 an all.... YMMV

Take a look at Steve Luckey's AC15 project - you can skip the vibrato.

True "Top Boost" sound would be an AC-30. Why limit the amount of headroom w/ 15W? And at not such a significant difference in cost. I've made lighter AC-30's w/ a single 12 or 2x10 celestion golds in pine cab.
Just my 2 cents...

Never actually weighed it, but it's a lot lighter than an AC-30 combo.

Your average mid 70's Japanese sedan weighs less than an AC30 combo.
I have an AC15ish amp with an EF86 front end and just volume and cut controls. Very simple, similar to a stripped down Foxy. Not much clean headroom, but really screams at a pretty moderate volume. I will admit though, that sometimes I wish it was a 30 instead of a 15. Just depends on what you're looking for, clean headroom, or crunch, and how loud your drummer is.
