60 vid is lovely.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

Re: Express vs Asteroid? Komet?
I saw some posts about a board to make the fast/gradual switch footswitchable. But I don't think the person who offered it is on this forum anymore. Does anyone have info about it?

My opinion. That is $200+ in parts and labor wasted.
Add a 25k pot to that stage at the cathode tail and add a switching jack for a dumb and simple N/O footswitch.
You won't have to use a relay and no switching high voltage. Similar textural change with variable gain.

Can you explain this some more? Do you mean a 25k pot at the 1.5k cathode resistor on v1b?Reeltarded wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2023 4:01 pm My opinion. That is $200+ in parts and labor wasted.

I won't be switching HV. I'll put caps in line with the switch.

Yeah, but it is a mess over there where even the wires need a Faraday coil..
All things considered.

The Atomic layout shows 47k off of the 16 ohm tap for NFB. Am I right to assume that's about 33k off the 8 ohm tap?

At those values it is close.

Re: Express vs Asteroid? Komet?
The exact figure to account for the reduced voltage on the 8 ohm tap vs. the 16 would be 47/sqrt(2) or 33.3. 33k is fine.Ledvedder5150 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2023 7:00 pm The Atomic layout shows 47k off of the 16 ohm tap for NFB. Am I right to assume that's about 33k off the 8 ohm tap?

Re: Express vs Asteroid? Komet?
Right now, I have 10k going into the grid of the first stage, and 820r into the grid of the second stage. Will I notice much difference if I up the first stage to 33k and remove the 820r, like what's shown on the Asteroid layout?

Re: Express vs Asteroid? Komet?
I doubt it, but it would only take you a few minutes to try it out.
