Hey all,
I just finished an express build and all SEEMS fine except that it has low output volume. There is basically no overdrive to it also.
I have triple checked all component values and wiring and it all looks correct.
I have swapped all tubes and it's always the same output level.
All the control knobs function correctly.
Bias current and plate voltage are correct.
Any tips on where to start looking? I am assuming the preamp section has an issue somewhere....
Thanks for any help!

Re: New Express build very low volume
Pictures would help. It's easy to overlook mistakes if you are too close to them. I have wired output jacks wrong so the tip is shorted to ground instead of the switch. That will give you very low output, but a perfectly functioning amp according to your meter. Could have a resistor that is an order of magnitude too large or too small. Could have a bad solder joint. Could have something almost shorting to ground, like in a badly stripped shielded cable. Could have a pot or switch with a mechanical problem. Could be lots of things...

I found it this morning...... there was a bad solder joint on V1. I re-flowed the connections and voilla!....amp is now VERY loud like it should be.
Just goes to show you....sometimes it's the simplest of things.....
Thanks!!!
