Rocket PDF file?

Post by Mark »

Perhaps I'm losing it in my old age, but I couldn't find the PDF file Matt Taylor did of the Rocket circuit.

This was the one I built and thought most likely to be the real deal. I had heard recordings of Rocket's AC-30 clone (I feel silly writing Rocket's Rocket, no disrespect intended.)

The amp I built sounded very similar to his amp (to me), so much that I almost gave up the idea of building an Express or a Liverpool.

I have raved on a bit too much about them in the past, so I'll quite while I'm ahead.
Yours Sincerely

Dave
Could you either email the Rocket schem or post it? I can move it to the Files section.

Thanks,
Omar

I'll send it this evening guys when I get home from work - it's on my home computer. Probabally makes the most sense for me to post it to this thread so everyone including Omar can get it..

It's funny that this popped up when it did, as I'm just about to start building either a Rocket or an AC30 w/ the EF86 preamp.

EDIT

attached is the Rocket pdf.

Any voltages obtained for the PT? Or Z on the primary of the OT?

Of course there is the extra gain stage, so make it a Trem Rocket while you're at it. The trem circuit from either of these can probably be tweaked to fit:

I don't know the difference to the trem circuit that duet vs. quartet makes off-hand. I'd be looking at a 15 watter, anyhow.

I'm using one of Chris's (Moose) Wreck PT's on the 260V tap, and a Schumacher 4K OT with 4 x EL84's. I believe most AC30 OT's are 4.2K or there abouts.

The schematic in Pittmans book is a Vox circuit; he just got it from Ken, thats why it has Ken's address stamped on it. It's a much later SS rectified AC30.

Play around with the ss recti vs the tube recti schems for more insight into Rocket topology.
