...and here you find two interviews with some information in regard to his gear, too: http://www.stephenbruton.com/images/TQRNov02Bruton.pdf ... Max, thanks for the link. I enjoyed reading the article, except for this part: I’ve heard a lot of Dumble copies, and that’s all they are. They are knocko...

Nothin' but the Blues
I pulled this quote from the '5EC mod' thread and I'd like to explore this a bit more. I cathode bias many of my D style builds and don't use the local feedback in those amps.It makes them nice and loose. The OD is really nice to my ears. I recently built a 4 bottle 6CA7 cathode biased D style amp an...

I believe Henry's Tweedyverb has a tweed pre. He mentions it in this thread:

Re: Shield inside of head cabinet?
I use aluminum flashing from the hardware store. Stick it on with some 3M Super 77 spray adhesive.
Some people use screen material, aluminum foil, or a full blown chassis lid, as well.

Re: Spectratone
Nearing completion on the Spectratone. This thing turned out pretty nice. Only problem is, the speakers sound a bit suckish (as my daughter would say). I'm not sure if the speakers are working properly, but they have pretty low output and distort easily. The vibrato effect is wonderful, but this thi...

Re: Steve Farris ODS #075
Most products don't reach legendary status w/ ridiculous price tags like the Dumbles..until the replicas clones whatever you want to call it hits the market.. Is it the chicken or the egg? The replicators only go after high dollar items. It's not cost effective to replicate a Casio, but a Rolex? I ...

I just don't find the majority of his music compelling. It's like it's too sterile or white, for lack of a better term. Is it just me or what? Enlighten me if you please. I tend to agree. Overall, his music doesn't excite me for some reason. It seems as though the songs are too similar or something.

Re: W15 Companion practice amp
Welcome aboard! Very cool little amp you have there. It looks like a similar tube complement to an amp I built from the parts from an old film projector. I used a hybrid Selmer/Epi circuit. It's one of my favorites. Those 6AQ5s sound quite good. They're known as a 6V6 in a smaller bottle, but they c...

Re: Spectratone
I assume you are going to use this with a guitar amp? What does it do? Is it similar to a rotating speaker Leslie type thing? It's a Wurlitzer version of a Leslie. Yes, I'm going to use my guitar amp to power the speakers. It only has two 4" speakers back-to-back. I'm not sure how it will sound wit...
