Re: SLOCONE forum
Yes I think you mentioned that. But have you tried clearing your cache (temp. internet files) and cookies and logging in again?Structo wrote:I looked at that forum and it says: This board has no forums.
(As it seems to be for others) it works for me (and that's without any special PC/internet hocus pocus).

Re: GLS Microphones
real Shures (obviously) have a track record but I think you need to watch what you plug the output into (because the mic contains a transformer) otherwise you won't get the intended response. I don't see why you'd cheap out there though since they aren't that expensive anyway.

Re: De-solder tools
FWIW, I hated those spring operated deals and liked using wick or the type with the rubber bulb and Teflon tip. Recently though, I decided to have another stab (after a string of semi-successes) at removing alu electros from mobo PCBs, and thought of trying to "attack" it from both sides using an ir...

did you make sure it was connected to the chassis? If it's left floating(not connected to anything) then that might be an explanation

Re: Marshall 50 JMP Hum - Heater Filament Pot Candidate?
(Maybe it's there, but) I don't see a ground connection from the input jacks to the rest of the ground line. By any chance did it come off, or perhaps did you forget to put it back on when the jacks were changed to the type w/a metal ferrule?

Re: BC Components 2222368 series caps
those are MKT and not the same type of cap as 6PS (metallized polyester vs. polyester). (I think there may have been more than one but those appear basically as the successor to the Philips "tropical fish" caps which are MKT.) If you are in Europe maybe look for Philips KT(polyester)--not sure if th...

doesn't look quite perfect (in terms of a 90 deg. angle). I bet you could just bend them with pliers to be like that (Hiwatts are such).flood wrote:
slightly OT question: is it possible to get those 90 degree/perfectly straight leads WITHOUT prebond wire? you don't get prebond in india....

I saw this and thought it was a cool idea also:

Re: Bad Caps?
I got a brand new Sprague ATOM 10uf with some white stuff coming out the end straight from Mouser one time. I didn't consider it a big deal since I bought more than one but I think that says that even from "good" makers you can still get defective caps. Even perfectly good caps can die or go bad jus...

No, different guy; same last names are coincidental. Ted (RIP) as I understand was in the Air Force and later worked for an automobile manf. (if memory serves) and was into ham radio as well so he knew his stuff technically speaking. GW seems to have done what some people today on the internet, beco...
