Re: Spectratone

Got the power supply worked out on this Spectratone project. I used an interesting 'Economy' PS circuit I found on the web. Joe's show from Royal Albert Hall was on Palladia last night. Good show. Eric Clapton was a guest for one number. Quite a thrill, I imagine.

Very cool, Tom. It's interesting to look inside these old 'bargain' amps. Thanks for sharing.

No news is good news, I imagine. If they weren't happy with it, you'd probably be the first to know ;)

Re: PCB Making and Advice

Yeah, a laser printer is required. I've got a stash of PnP Blue, but if I was starting from scratch I'd try the glossy (magazine) paper method. Can't beat the price.

Re: 1x12 cab for EVM12L

Seems like with the open back you can do away with the female 1/4" and just have a male come out the port. Any drawbacks or pluses to having one less Jack? I prefer adding an extra jack so I can daisy chain a second cab when needed. For some reason this pic makes me think of "Little Shop of Horrors...

Re: Hilarious Thread on TGP

The 'Golden Ears' response was priceless (no offense, dogears!): Now the laws of "golden ears" are a bit more complex. Here they are, at least as far as I have been able to ascertain: (1) "You are not allowed to make any mention of golden ears until you are losing an argument and have no way to save...

Re: Spectratone

Thanks, Jana. You're right, I need to try the FWB. I thought full wave was full wave, but I finally found a good reference that explains the difference between the conventional full wave with CT versus the FWB. One advantage of a bridge rectifier over a conventional full-wave rectifier is that with ...

Spectratone

I've been playing around with a Wurlitzer Spectratone I pulled from an organ. I'm trying to make up a power supply and control circuit for it. [img:240:238]http://farm1.static.flickr.com/193/510215671_77e587d62f_m.jpg[/img] The motors run on 120VAC. It uses a 24V relay to switch speeds. There is als...

Re: simple wire question

I found the KF comment I referred to in my earlier post. It's from the Dave Hunter book. < Q > You put a lot of thought even into wire selection? < A > Yeah, a lot of thought, and a lot of experimenting. Will the solid core sound better than stranded wire? And if it does, is there a difference betwe...

To call someone a Fool because their opinion/experience is different than yours is well, in my opinion PHOOLISH. Please don't take offense, I was trying to be funny. I wasn't questioning your opinion/experience. I just meant you have to take those vendor provided offers of proof with a grain of sal...

Re: simple wire question

People believe what they choose to. Some cannot accept that the earth is not the center of the universe. I'm sure you're right, billyz, but sometimes you have to question the source of the "science". It always seems to prove the purveyor's product is the best (e.g. cigarette companies). I hear ange...

I've never tried to be a singer, but I always thought if guys like Bob Dylan, Joe Cocker, and Neil Young could do it...???
