Re: Props to Rich M

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the props and for your's and Andy's patience. Anything less on my part wouldn't not have been right and I do try to take pride in what I do... even if sometimes I'm a real lunkhead

Re: More capacitor

You think THAT's dangerous? We are being silently attacked by counterfeit junk from Asia, mostly China. This stuff is infiltrating "legitimate" supply chains and being put in products we use in all aspect of our lives, IMO  . I believe that when this whole mess is sorted out with Toyota, count...

Re: germanium diode

Good point. I have some somewhere. I'll try and dig them up and measure them. Maybe they rounded :?

Actually, the datasheet link shows they are point-contact diodes so the higher forward voltage is probably due to increased series resistance. Might sound good, might sound like crap.

Re: Inexpensive Electrolytic Capacitors

For filtering on Marshalls, I use mostly ARS for the chassis mounts and BC/Vishay for the axials. Rifas are supposed to be real good as well, but tend to be a bit larger.

Re: Do tubes wear out faster at high volume?

The electrons don't act like a "sandstorm" as their mass is negligible. Tube mostly wear out due to the cathodes losing the ability to emit these electrons (except the ones that fail due to poor manufacturing or vibration, as mentioned, which, in my experience, has been any tube made after 1990 :( )...

Re: looking for source for aluminum pedal stock

I've gotten a couple of these to make some footswitches. Bottom is smooth for mounting switches (upsidedown). Not angled though.

Peavey Windsors use a cathodyne to drive four EL34's - you should be fine.

Re: I've been wondering why my amps aren't loud enough.

I like the product reviews: "When the movie was over my TV exploded and Chuck Norris stood in the carnage. Then he picked up my wife and gave her the best rogering she has ever had (the doctors say she might be able to walk again after intensive physical theropy). Two thumbs way up!!" WTF??? I think...

Re: Rexine as Tolex alternative?

I always though tolex and levant were just tradenames, I would say if it is thin enough to fold the corners cleanly, it would be fine. Can't be any worse than Tolex. Beware of buying stuff that is too thick. The corners will almost certainly look sloppy and the elastic strength of it tend to pull it...
