Re: ok peavey

Peavey is pretty good about giving schematics. Peavey are hit or miss on the layout it seems. The 5150 isn't bad except for the rivets on the power tube sockets keeping you from getting at the screen resistors :x . The Windsor is easy to work on but the layout is FUBAR, probably because they were to...

Re: Mullard 12AX7 Reissue

I've always wondered that if the tube was actually better, why wouldn't they just call it a Sovtek and replace the mediocre stuff they sell under that name now. This would enhance their brand name and give them a competitive advantage over Sino tubes. I suspect you are paying for the silk screening.

Re: Powder Coating

I got the powder coater from Eastwood. Works pretty good once you get the bakeout down. I got a BSIAB2 that looks like creme brulee, or as my friend like to say "brown sound in my pants"!

Re: Looking for a Boss SYB-3 service manual.

Thanks for the FB. I will try posting over there. I believe it is digital. Not a very common pedal so I figure finding one will be hit or miss, but if anyone has one, I'd be mighty obliged.

Looking for a Boss SYB-3 service manual.

Sorry if this isn't the right section or the right board. The resourcefulness of this board never ceases to amaze. Boss wants $35 which is kind of funny when you think about it. Make a pedal that fails and then charge an arm a leg to help fix it. :x

Re: BC Components/Vishay Cap series?

Thanks for the photos, very helpful. So is this one current production 041? [img:2256:678]http://webpages.charter.net/rmweb/Parts/BC-33uF---450V.jpg[/img] The 118s I got came from Metroamp and are 10µF/200V. Going into a standard Marshally bias circuit. How do you guys like the 041s as far as quali...

Re: BC Components/Vishay Cap series?

I have a older 041 33uF/450V cap that has the transparent wrap. I think this is the wrap from the old Philips days.

Re: BC Components/Vishay Cap series?

It's strange. I bought a bunch recently from a Vishay distributer and the 10uF/160V ones had the transparent blue wrapping but the 33uF/450V ones had an opaque blue wrapping and said BC/Vishay onthey. My guess is Vishay is trying to make their product line look more visually consistent, but I'm not ...

If you want to hide the tnuts, can't you sink them with a Forstner bit and then fill, sand, and veneer over them?

Re: Effect of serial filter capacitance?

In your example, when you put two 100 uF in series, for a given B+, each of those caps will store only 1/2 of the energy of a 50 uF cap at the same B+. This is because each cap only has B+/2 across it. The energy stored can be expressed as E = 1/2*C*V^2 and even though C is twice the value, B+/2 squ...

9-pin tube plugs

Does anybody know where I can buy the 9-pin tube plugs used for making bias meters for EL84s? I've found the assembled probe units, but I want to make my own.
