Re: bias elevated heater voltage
KOC regularly uses a voltage divider (something like 330k/100k+10u) from B+ to lift the heaters in his TUT designs.

6U10 works as well. Sgt. overdrive said he has plenty of these 12-pinners, BTW.

Re: Fuchs Jack Frost WTF?
Has Fuchs heard this guy play???? I guess your real question is should Andy be picky about the people he builds amps for. :? If it was me, anyone who is famous and has a lot of money would be OK, particularly if the association might sell a few amps in a market that I couldn't otherwise easily ente...

Disconnect all the secondary leads -- if it still blows a fuse, your PT has 'joined the choir invisible.'

Re: Help with basic 120VAC hookup?
To save others the trouble of reading through that *long* thread , yes, if you view the female end of the plug with the ground on the top, hot is on the right, and neutral is on the left (or vice-versa looking in the male end).

Re: 6K11
It will actually work in any standard Marshall V2 stage (common cathode + cathode follower), but you really *need* a master volume with it!

Re: Some grounding questions
Is there any point is soldering the buss to the casings of the pots? Aren't the casings grounded to the chassis, as long as they are boltet to it? There is no need to solder anything to the pot casings, that is strictly an old, traditional way to mount a ground buss wire, and ensures a sub-optimal ...

The PT might work OK, but I think the OT is probably not the greatest.

Re: bias elevated heater voltage
The idea behind 'heater elevation' is to make the heaters more *positive* than the cathode, and therefore the (negative) bias supply would actually hinder more than help.

Re: A "Better" idea for an attenuator
The way to do the maths is simply consider the tapped resistor as several individual resistors and do the Ohm's law power calcs for each one individually. This will tell you how much power will be dissipated by each section. A ceramic wire wound resistor is just a length of resistance (think "toaste...

Re: A "Better" idea for an attenuator
So the series resistor in the Airbrake would be under rated? I don't know, I haven't done the math. Is the AB rated for 100 watts? Another issue is that lower frequencies draw more power. On top of that, the impedence and power all change with frequency. Only on a real speaker, not a resistor. So, ...
