Re: 2Watt Sub Miniature Plexi

Hello Dana, Just curious what the fix in the PI area is and whether you've had a chance to test it. Bryan Hi Brian There is an error on the board with the connection of the 2 1 meg resistors on the PI. First I want to publically thank Lou JassGuitarGimp for finding the error. The 2 1 meg resistors ...

Re: vvr & vvr3

Hi All: Wallaceguitars is helping me with this project on my amp. Ive been keeping up with the post here & after Dana's post i'm very confused. When i contacted Hall Amplification about the VVR, i was told i needed the VVR3 for my amp which is NOT fixed bias. Do we have the wrong VVR? The Hot Rod D...

Re: VVR3 In Hot Rod Deluxe

Did you recieve the instructions from me on the VVR? If not I can send them. There are testing procedures and troubleshoorting procedures written in the VVR instructions. Iwould highly advise anyone to go through the testing procedures with the tubes out of the amp and make sure the VVR is connected...

Sorry guys, Thanks for catching this. I will update the BOM to add C33 on there. It should be .022.

Re: Mosfet VVR question

Tube rectos needs to have a filter cap on the output of the tube and before the VVR. If you are installing the VVR right after the recto and before the first fiter cap then that COULD be your problem.

Re: Welborne Labs Fraud

Thought I'd post this here too just in case anyone tries to buy from them. I usually don't post bad press on people since life's complicated all around but I've tried everything here and can only conclude outright fraud. I've dealt with them a few times over 20 years w/o issue, but the impression I...

Re: 2Watt Sub Miniature Plexi

Guys Got a PM about R32 being listed twice in the BOM. It should be a 470 ohm. Also been getting questions on the resistors for the PS board. I have included a pic of the populated PS board to try and help. Lou also found another small problem with the board in the PI area. I will address this short...

Re: Hoooooooooo it makes noise!

Ok, sounds good. While we're talking about it, I had a little bit of trouble lining up the PCB holes with the PCB. I think I ended up having to enlarge a couple holes a bit to get them to line up. You may already know about it but just in case! Yes it appears that the hole closest to the power cont...

Re: Hoooooooooo it makes noise!

Hey Dana, just FYI after monkeying with the bias again I think I'm happiest around -30v where I started. This time I went a little farther negative and tried -31, -33, and then back up to -26, -30. Also, I think I'm a little above 180v on B+, so with like 184v, I'm at -30v bias. Thanks, really is a...

I will contact the lucky alternate by pm shortly. Once I get through this weekend with my new band (We've bee...

Re: Hoooooooooo it makes noise!

That makes since with the B+ around 180v. I would guess that -26v would be on the "biased hot" side of the equation. at 160-65 volts (which i'm getting) a little lower than 30 sounds best to me. Good info!!!! Hey Dana, just FYI after monkeying with the bias again I think I'm happiest around -30v wh...

Re: Hoooooooooo it makes noise!

Finally got it running!! Thanks for all the help, and thanks for the kit Dana! I haven't gotten to play it much yet but it sounds great so far. Very much a small big amp. Hey Congrats!!. I'll be looking forward to hear your evaluation. In response to a couple of your posts, the first 100uf cap is a...
