Re: Little Walter 59 gut shots
Marketing is everything these days. I've heard of guys building kits and selling the amps under their own name!

All the best Ken. Even though thoughts and prayers are not in vogue lately, be assured that thoughts and prayers are headed your way.

Re: I'm back after a hellish three years.
Welcome back Lefty! Sorry to hear of all the troubles. Raising parents ain't easy, both of mine had problems with dementia when they were older and it's hard to see them going through all that. Glad you're back. Life has kept me too busy to be on TAG much but still manage to crank out a build every ...

Ah, yes, the Attach tab. Didn't find that at first. Now it all looks familiar. Thanks Xtian!

About 1983. I had the long blonde hair and the Gibson bass. Still have the bass, just not so much hair.

Attaching photos
What's the trick to attaching a photo to a post? I haven't been on TAG much since the new BBS, but I used to be able to attach a jpeg from my hard drive. Now it's asking me to insert a url?

I wonder if anybody else has had this happen. I built a 2X12" cab a while back. It is a sealed cab and I tried to pay attention to not having any air leaks. I guess I did a pretty good job. I was jamming out on it the other day, as I often do on those rare occasions when I have the house to myself. ...

Re: What're you listening to right now??
Both Sides of the Sky? This is the first I've heard of it. Being a Hendrix freak, I need to check it out! Is it any good? Is it stuff Jimi would be proud of, or are we scraping the bottom of the barrel for clips and snippets that he never intended to release?

Re: What're you listening to right now??
I haven't checked this thread in a long time. I've been digging Budgie lately. First 3 albums. Great stuff. Anybody remember them?

Re: Is this a problem???
I sent those pics to the reconer in Indiana and asked their opinion. They said it shouldn't affect the operation of the speaker. Also the horseshoe and magnet are bolted together, and the glue is just a metal to metal buffer. The speaker actually sounded OK once I got in mounted in a cab and broken ...

Is this a problem???
I had this speaker re-coned, and it came back like this. Is there any reason why the parts should not be perfectly lined up? I'm not a speaker guru. Will this misalignment cause any problems? Perhaps affect the efficiency of the speaker? It looks like the glue "slid" after it was assembled. Can I ta...

Re: Don't Know What I'm Hearing
I have read that the Bassman was considered to have insufficient filtering, but I was trying not to stray too far from the original design. However, at this point, I think I am more concerned with improving the amp to the point where I feel good about it.
Not that the Bassman needs improvement.

Re: Don't Know What I'm Hearing
I'm dredging up this old thread because I think I finally figured out the problem. At long last. I think. This build had a number of problems that I worked out one by one, but the one thing I couldn't cure was a parasitic oscillation that occurred when the amp was cranked up really loud. I had put i...
