Re: Express into 60w
I know a couple of the guys (Allyn & M Fowler) built 80w versions of the Express  Not something you hear everyday "my Express isn't loud enough" Unless you're playing Che Stadium without a P.A. I'd be more concerned with an airbrake. A buddy set up for ban practice & unfortunately pointed 2 4...

Awful news. David was an innovator and a genuine good person.

Never seen that before. Very nice amp nonetheless.
There used to be a long waiting list when Marshall started offering "hand wired in the U.K." amps again.
Go figure...

Re: Cabinet Finish
A tip I got from our missing brother Tom (Structo) is Tru Oil.
Easy to apply, short drying time - 4 to 6 hours & you can get some stunning results with multiple layers.
Don't use this if you have OCD tendencies...

Re: Preferred Filter Cap Brands?
I'd just re-iterate that F&T make me feel the most confident. I do look at the data/spec sheets. Then I measure every cap for tolerance & esr. Another handy trick is to use thermal imaging during burn in. Surprising what can show up. Little Flir camera plugged into my iphone. In the end you p...

Re: Preferred Filter Cap Brands?
Yup - F&T for axials & Nichicon for radials.
I've made quite a few amps with other brands (even Chinese) & never had a problem.
But that niggly doubt in the back of my mind persists. F&T & forget about it.

Thanks so much for sharing. There's some new (to me) info there.
Asides from the genius, it's the caring / giving nature of Ken that is evident in the recollections of those who were lucky enough to know him.

380 B+ - works wonders for Marshalls using el34s.
Most of the Express info indicates 400v or so.

I remember seeing it. May have been Glen K - geetarpicker - that posted it.
