Re: Reading Material on Steroids
Read this thread: http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9023 Lots of great recommendations. Start with simple schematics like the tweed champ, read, use the search function here, ask questions, build something! Gosh, I remember that thread now. If you want to understand how tubes work, highly ...

Re: This clip rocks!
I apologize for deleting the files... Someone sent me a message on youtube, supposedly from the Fisher family, threatening legal action for calling my amps "trainwreck clones" and demanded that I remove them. Rather then trying to see if it was legitimate, I just deleted them. Has anyone else had e...

Re: Mil Spec PEC pots?
look at the pec website. the coding is actually pretty simple now... Link in my post from 3 years ago in this thread is kaput, so here's the new PEC one: http://www.precisionelectronics.com/0-40a-010c.html It's actually a milspec numbering system mandated by DoD. HIGHLY recommend TDSS for the PECs....

Re: 2Watt Sub Miniature Plexi
I'd like a production plexi when available. Too much on my plate to do a good test build.

Re: Dabeck amps
Dave Smith = Dabeck amps (wifes name is Becky). He worked for a number of companies (Motorola, etc) as electronics engineer/tech; can fix about anything. Dave is an outstanding guy; really nice to deal with. I've got a Dabeck amp. Sounds GREAT. It's probaby the one pictured above. Amazing build; two...

10 watters appear to get too hot. AC transients (when actually played) outstrip the steady-state DC rating.

Re: Calculations and the bias supply circuit
Yeah, I was in basic stages of EE program 30 years ago myself. Spent the first quarter on semiconductor calculations out to the third digit ( .XXX). No credit if not exact. When we finally hit the labs the next quarter, I was pretty furious. Variance in manufacturing gets you +/- a lot. Crickee.

Re: Express vs. Concorde
The Concorde is a lot louder and the distortion is more "modern" sounding I guess you'd call it. The Express has that high mid peak in the tone that sort of dominates it's sound. The concorde not so much. I love the concorde but find the express less demanding and a bit easier to play and work with...

Re: New Build - Z Wreck Style
Hi steve, the labeling is silk screened on the chassis. I had the sheet metal chassis fabricated, and they also did the textured black powder and the silk screening. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Steve Where'd you get the chassis done? Approx cost, if you don't mind sharing.

Re: Preamp Current Draw
Just to be esoteric, signal inversion is a function of the specific circuit hooked up to a preamp tube, and not the tube itself.
