Hardware Q's (chasis/sockets)
How is the Express chassis attached to the cab? I know of those threaded clips, but don't see those on any of the Francesca build pics. What's a good source for any chasis-to-cab connecting hardware? Also, what tubes sockets do you all prefer (and why)? Due to size requirements, I'm leaning towards ...

Re: Found some Flea Flickers!
What pray tell is a flea flicker (not the American Football play)?
What do you call those threaded clamps that attach to the chasis flanges that allow you to connect the chasis to the head box from the bottom?

Re: taming the treble in t-wreck inspired amp
Which 880 (or 2.2k) resistor are you talking about? The only one's soldered directly to the tubes are the higher wattage 1.5k and 1K ones, but that's well after the volume control. While I'm at it, which types of smaller value -pf- caps (polystyrene, polyster, or silver mica) did you all use and get...

Re: Train Wreck vs Bad Cat
I've now come full circle in a matter of hours here. After my last post (and before reading yours) I hit the USPTO website and did a bunch of searches. From my amateur look, there appear to be NO patents for circuit designs on Badcat, Komet and/or Trainwreck amps. There ARE trademarks for the names,...

Re: Express -- please help me distill it down
but ken hand tuned his express amps tweaking bits for each customer so a list is going to be a good starting point but you better get some extra values if you are going to tune it like he did, lol. Oh, believe me, I plan on doing that! Just wanted to get the basic list down, and then expand to get ...

Yes, this is an amp building forum. And no, I'm not a stooge of Hogy/Chimeboss or any other amp builder. I'm just a big believer in (active) intellectual property rights. How would you feel if you came up with a unique design and was trying to make a living selling production versions, and someone o...

Re: Train Wreck vs Bad Cat
Honestly, since it's still in major production, it's going to be hard to find a schematic for (much less open debate on) a Bad Cat. If the current manufacturers get wind of it, they usually come down hard with a big hammer. I might be in the minority, but IMHO I'm with them on this one. Highly recom...

Re: Another Snarling Beast
Fantastic looking build. Rather than plummers goop, have heard others use GE Silione II caulk with good results. You can get at any hardware store; 4.99 for a full caulk tube, and is good to 400 degrees F. It's what I'm using for another build, but haven't fired it up yet. BTW, what brand/source did...

You don't find the wreck too bright for the scumback G12H30s? Is that the 55 or 75?
So, you're the one to thank? I've got two of his 65 watters (8 ohm-75s) for a conservatively-rated 50 watt marshall-type amp. Thanks you!

jaysg, I'm doin' the BOM dance as well. I didn't see any 2K's on the Kelly 90 layout or the schem. And there were some missing 1M's. Or you can download and install an open source equivalent to Usoft Office called Open Office: http://www.openoffice.org/ I would also go to Aikens site http://www.aikenamps.com (under Tech Info - Introductory) and printout the Glossary of Common Amplifier Terms. It's more than your typical glossary;...
