I figure 2 amps for 5V4 off the top o' me head.
Am running a 40 year old Telefunken GZ34 in the Deluxe Reverb.
Probably safest to keep using it until it decides the "time has come".
But I have boatloads of 5U4GB's.
Not looking to change the tone either.
Sorry for the temporary derail.

Already have that chart.
Doesn't tell me what safe current rating of the DR (or PR) is for the 5U4GB 5V filament is.
Just wondering why the assertion is that it is a valid substitute.

I'm still wondering about this.rdjones wrote: Rectifier, again don't be hesitant to swap from 5AR4 to 5U4.
Whether it's really safe.
Seems 5U4 would pull too much current?

Wouldn't the current draw be a bit risky with that swap?rdjones wrote: Rectifier, again don't be hesitant to swap from 5AR4 to 5U4.
If not, I would like to try it on my Deluxe Reverb.

Now that might work with a small air compressor.cbass wrote:I heat up the solder and use a straw in my mouth to blow the solder through the hole.I'm not recomending anyone else try it.
I happen to have a little one that would work...

EB Slinky .01's.
I used to use S.I.T.'s, loved the quality and the extra high strings but overall the EB's have been cheap and reliable.

Adding the preamp tubes to the mix will help bring the B+ down a little.

IMO they sound "boxy" compared to Deluxe Reverbs.
Maybe other people replace them for the same reason?

Grilled cheese sandwich. I crusted it with grated sharp cheddar and used black pepper jack with cream cheese. Only staring at the last bite did I realize how epic chopped up salty bacon would have made it. Wow Halleluiah oh YES preach it brother. I feel the LORD in your language. Amen the truth hat...

You should cut it down to head size.THrow away those crappy 10's.Gut the stupid reverb/trem add a CF and el34's Make SURE to remove any blue colored components as soon as possible on amps that might made in the 60's. Most real techs seem to do this first. I had a good...

Re: I got an amp to fix
Cream cheese was invented to put inside grilled jalapenos wrapped in bacon.
Yanks use it for bagels.
Ask me how I know this!
