Re: Blondshell Amps review

Okay Rawnster - just for that, you have to post the schematic :-) Oh man, if I posted a schematic, wiredturtle would take fast train to my house and kill my dog, drown my fish, and suck the life out of my rose bushes. Nah just kidding; wiredturtle is not that mean. Yet it's his amp, so you'...

Re: Which 6G6 Bassman?

Is the treble pot on the normal channel (350k/70k tap) available, or is there another way to sub it? There is info from my thread about an alternate circuit to using the odd 350k pot. http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16863&highlight= Here's another good thread about the tapped treble pot....

Re: Which 6G6 Bassman?

I've built many 6g6b-type circuits utilizing just the clean/guitar channel. Great sounding circuit for sure. Add reverb, and bam, tonal heaven using a gretsch or tele.

Re: Favorite PVC wire

OK, I get the HIFI wire is nice, but I simply can't afford wire that is $1+ a foot! Anything cheaper? I wasn't thinking HiFi so much as I was just thinking that those options were the only "civilized" options to use. $20 doesn't make or break an amp build. :) BTW: Kimber is .90 cents a ft, not $1. :P

How much wire goes in to your builds?

I'm curious as to how much wire ya'll use in your builds. I'm finding that I using over 22ft of wire much of the time. Dang, I must be build small intestines! :-) Anyway...

Re: 2 el84 rocket

I replaced the 100ohm screen resistors with 1k. Brought the voltage down a few volts (375 range). I should probably swap out this PT for something rated a little lower, but dang there's something really cool sounding about this particular build. I'm very hesitant to change anything. Tubes are cheap,...

Re: 2 el84 rocket

Hey Rooster, similar readings... the build I mentioned earlier uses a PT that reads 330-0-330. After built using an EZ81 recto, I get about 386 on the first filter stage...then going to the second filtersection via a 10 henry/100mA choke, it reads about 379VDC. This 379 feeds the powertubes.

Re: 2 el84 rocket

I just put together a (15 watter)british style amp using MM AC-15 tranny set. It sounds extremely nice. Yet the voltages are high. About 386VDC at the reservoir capacitor, and about 382VDC on the EL-84 plates. Hmmm, hasn't blown up yet. Those russion saratov tubes are truly nuclear grade! :-)

Re: My rocket clone video.......

Hey redshark, nice sounding amp. +1 on the great clean tones (and clean to a touch of hair). I love the rocket circuit. Your clip reminded me of a rocket I built a few years ago. Sadly I had to let it go. But oh my did it have fantastic clean tone...at least to me. Here are a few clips of my old amp...

Re: Planning up for a new rocket build - help needed

+1 using RJ's stock of Heyboer or Pacific trannies. Use a Heyboer PT, and Pacific OT. You could even use Mercury Magnetic trannies. I recently built a Rocket using the standup versions of their VXO-30M OT, and MMP-V30W PT. Sounded fantastic.

This looks cool. I'll give it a try on an upcoming "fender-type" build.

Thanks!

Re: Jupiter Cap Quesiton

I just put a set in a Marshall Plexi build for a client. Started with a JCM 800. Removed the Stock circuit board and installed a Turret board. The difference was readily apparent. The client said it was much clearer sounding. He also said he could never turn the treble all the way up but now he lik...
