Re: Music Electronics Forum
I've been part of several forums over that last decade (or so) and while I don't personally know many of the people, I know their contributions to these communities. Sad to hear of Enzo's passing.

Yeah that stain should definitely have a name like "skidmark" or something. Definitely not flattering...

Re: 5f2 but with two channel
The first thing that came to mind is the preamp from a 5F6a Bassman as an example. Split the cathode on it for different bias & bypass cap/voicing, and use mixers. More or less what Phil is showing in his schematics.

Re: Alternative cabinet materials
If you do ultimately go with a foam core composite build there is some good info over @ DIYAudio Here are two super honkin big threads with foam core builds: https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/foam-core-board-speaker-enclosures.223313/ https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/mini-karlsona...

Re: Alternative cabinet materials
Please let us know how this works out. I just picked up some 1/4" Baltic birch and some 1" basswood for structural framing & bracing. Still will be a spell before I get to it, but hopefully sooner than later.

Re: Alternative cabinet materials
I would like to, but not yet. I've been stuck in the R&D phase for a long time. Work-shop is a hot mess, so it will probably be a spell before I ever get around to it. I've looked into a maple veneer layup with a fiberglass core and/or carbon-fiber facings but I suspect I will ultimately end up with...

Re: SE Circuits
I would probably look at a Blackface front-end for it. RJ's Eagle is pretty close to what you might be looking for (I'd add a mid control though). https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=14349

You might want to get in touch with Psionic Audio. He's been doing some amps of late that may not be too far off from what you are looking for.

Re: Framus mid control?
I have a 5f2a chassis on the bench that I placed the mid control in. It's isn't finished, and probably won't be for a spell, but I placed it right after the first stage coupling cap and with the traditional tone & volume control following it. I cannot confirm yay or nay on it yet, but I will as soon...

Re: DIY tactile platform with transducer for musicians
I've been using tactile transducers in my theater setup bolted to the bottom of the couch, and I have one on my gaming chair.
I set them so they're only doing about 40hz & down (subwoofer does the upper spectrum). Adds a little bit more dimension to movies, and games + keeps me regular!

Just a heads-up that Small Bear is closing up shop. Sad and happy for them (retiring).

Re: what caps to use in 5E3 build ?
Cap choice is very subjective. I've been using Mallory 150's for quite awhile, but I've started gravitating towards Panasonic ECW's. I think many associate Orange Drops with Fender builds, but I haven't used those in ages. Here's a page from Mouser on those specifically: https://www.mouser.com/appli...

I'm with sluckey. I would think that a cathode biased output section may get you closer to what you are shooting for as well. You could always make it a switchable mod.

Re: Advice/tips on a good 5E3 build
This is just my $.02 on mods that I've done (and like). Its all subjective and could be argued that it is no longer a 5e3, but is here as food for thought. I personally like a beefier O/T myself. You could probably find one that does double duty for 6V6 & 6L6. Make sure your power transformer is up ...
