What Makes an AC100 Clean/High Headroom?
Hi there, I'm fascinated right now with some of the clean clips I've heard of Vox AC100s. Looking at the myriad of schematics of them I'm perplexed with what makes them such clean amps? I know they have a 12AU7 in both V1 and the PI. However in my experience with substituting a 12AU7 in the V1 and P...

SSS #002 Preamp Cathode Followers? Why?
Hi there, Can anyone here share some insight onto why the SSS #002 has the preamp cathode followers (V2B & V3B) on the posted schematic? I can see that they both feed the preamp out which would be helpful as half an effects loop but it seems a little overkill to have two of them and use them to mix ...

Re: Dumble Slidewinder?
Hey guys, I did a Google search and found out that the Slidewinder is a Fender pre-amp into a Marshall power-amp without a Master Volume. I asume Fender Black Face into Marshall plexi. HOWEVER, my good friend John Kelley Brown and I have experimented for years with similar topologies without good re...

Re: Dumble Slidewinder?
Hey guys,
I wish I had more photos but those are the only two. I think I got them off either eBay or the Les Paul forum. A few members on the Les Paul forum have some seriously (monetary wise!) amps like Dumble and Trainwrecks.
Take care,
Heiko

Re: Dumble Slidewinder?
Hey Chris, Wish I has some infor for you. I've been wondering about this model and the Ultra-Phonix (SP?) for a few years now. See the attachements. The Ultra-Phonix is a Bandmaster mod in the pix below which I got off the net in 2002 or so. Apparently, Dumble stopped building amps a few years ago a...

Steel String Singer Schematic?
Hey there, I'm curious if anyone here has the schematic or part of one for the Steel String Singer. I saw some pics of the one Two-Rock cloned for their Sterling Signature a few years ago but could not make heads or tails of it due to the fact that it was a 1 layer PCB amp (the photo was too grainy ...

Re: Remote thing?
Hey there, Long time lurker, first time poster. If I remember correctly, I read that the bluesmaster mod was similar to placing a Marshallish front end as the beginning of the ODS preamp. Basically two gain stages --> cathode follower --> OD of two cascaded gain stages. I could be way off with this ...
