Re: Voodoo amps ODS 60

LOL. Well, you could laugh it off and possibly get away with it if it was another type of product. Dr Z has used car names without issue. Hemi is debatable. A manufacturer having a TM on ODS as used on guitar amps and then another guy planting it on a guitar amp would likely not hold up if things "...

Re: Modified Laney VH100R lacks mids

Well hello Mr. Trace, nice to hear from you, in the attachment you can see screen print of my E-mail that was sent out to you on 04/01/13. But off course I'll take your word that for some reason you did not receive it, and that your attention to this forum thread, after several days of discussion, ...

Re: Modified Laney VH100R lacks mids

I double checked and we did not receive an email from you regarding this. You are welcome to call the shop at 607-256-0465 if you have any questions or email trace@voodooamps.com. The 22pF is there to prevent high frequency oscillation. You can remove it and install a cap across a plate resistor but...

I have (2) and they sound great! I believe they will sell for around the same price as a vintage 30

Have a great weekend;

Re: Franchesca Schematic

Whew! I feel vindicated. Sometimes with something this subtle, you wonder if what you are perceiving is real or if you're just off your game. Glad somebody else has noticed this. The longer once plays guitar the more important the nuances become. The ideal amp is one that you plug into and loose tr...

Re: Franchesca Schematic

I had added the IN4007s to an old 6G6-B Bassman years ago and wound up taking them out. It wasn't that they affected the tone per-se, but my impression was that it affected the feel and playability of the amp. Seemed to make it stiffer and less responsive although I can't really say why. I'm curiou...

Re: JCM 800 2204 NO SOUND

I would check to see if a power tube is blown, which is what it sounds like. Might save you some cash on the PT.

Re: JCM 800 2204 NO SOUND

I agree its strange to loose the hv and still have filaments. I tested the choke and it ok. I have corrected the HT fuse. I will keep you posted. Its not strange to loose high voltage and have the filaments working. This is what happens when the HT fuse is shorted. This fuse will usually sho...

Re: Franchesca Schematic

As someone asked if the diodes on the plates of the power tubes affected the tone and the general answer to that question would be yes they do. All things effect tone (everything) and in the end it comes down to what we each find to be acceptable. As many know Ken used to work at Ampeg and this was ...

Re: kt77 plate volt question

Generally speaking; The screens tend to be more sensitive than the plates regarding higher voltages. A word of caution - if the KT77's are JJ's I would make sure they are burned-in before using them, otherwise the chances of them shorting prematurely are greatly increased (unless they are 2-3 years ...

Re: bias and grid resistor power stage

For what it's worth; This is not meant to be confrontational so please do not take it as such. With that said, most hear a night-n-day difference when going from 1.5K to 10K, not to mention going from a value of 1K to 220K. This not only changes the tone/frequency response but also changes how the a...

Re: 1N4007 vs. UF4007?

FT in my opinion sounds a bit more rounder and darker than LCR'S but are great caps!! It's always interesting how subjective tone can be as I do not hear F&T's as being dark. To my ears they sound very consistent and balanced but to each his own. I use ARS from arselectronics, the same that Marshall...
