Hi thanks stavarone , your right the voltages are all over the place to the preamp section , why so? and how would higher voltages improve , i know messa boogie uses real high voltages to their preamp section running the tubes right on the limit

Hi yes thanks , i am just using the jcm as an example , if i lower the 10k on the plexi this will raise preamp voltages how will this effect the tone or response of the amp??

how does this work??? preamp main filter cap has a 10k resistor , ive heard that the optimum value that suits jcms is 4k7 ? how does the lower resistance effect tone or performance ???

Also why has the plexi a 1k5 2watt resistor coming from the tail pair of 220s from PI to pin 5 on EL34 , and the JCM800 has 5K6? what is the difference?

Hi thanks men, mine has the split cathode on first pre,i am already running a 10uf + 820 and 2k7 + .68sozo , and a .68 on 2nd pre cathode

Thanks people, ive got it, now if u lower the value say from 470k to 270k u will get more drive or signal and will this produce to much blocking distortion?
Also would a good carbon film be better than a c/c in this position,should i use 1watt instead of 1/2 watt resistors?

Hi i have a JMP50 plexi and not sure on how the 2 x 470k mix resistors work, I think one is the mix and the other with the bright cap is the grid load side?
Can someone explain and what happens if u lower values here???

Hi guys i still get confused about which way to wire a polarised cap to cathodes, some caps just have a arrow with black insert on one end , others like sozo have a band at 1 end , and blackgates have short and long leads What is easy way to remember ,call me dumb , could be memory lose happening he...

Thanks guys thats what ive thought , theres so much to be had in the cathodes and different values, if you dont bypass with a cap doesnt that give the signal more punch and headroom so ive heard??
is it better to have large caps in the early stages and drop values down as u move down the line ?

Thanks gearhead , also with the express there is a 10k resistor on cathode of 2nd preamptube, will using a larger value drop gain and why is there no cathode cap in parrallel with this resistor? can someone help out here?

Hi thanks mate,will give it a go,just thought that the lower wattage might make the amp more touch responsive in some sort of way , new to this still learning here ill try and post results
