Looking for old thread: In-home filtering with choke
Trying to find an old thread I remember there was a discussion about power filtering, and someone mentioned taking a choke (maybe a 5uf?) and plugging it right into the wall, then plugging your guitar amp into the other outlet. Supposedly there's a commercial version of this, but I can't find any re...

Re: treble caps
I know this is a dumble discussion, but I tried polystyrene in my super reverb, though it sounded nice clean, it added too much detail and as a result sounded harsh with even a smooth distortion circuit in front of it. I think I just prefer ceramics though I'd like to try different types.

Re: totally blown away today!!!
The more I think of it, the more I believe that the MASS motor is causing the bass distortion the more I turn it down. I think that the speaker coil is distorting. I've got a Mouser parts list for a diy airbrake, it's going to be run on a Super Reverb which has a 2 ohm output, so instead of 25 ohm r...

Re: totally blown away today!!!
Let me ask you a question about the airbrake. When you play clean, do you find it thins out the bass or distorts the bass? My Weber MiniMASS tends to thin out the bass and makes the bass distort some, whereas if I bypass the unit, it sounds solid and tight. Wondering if all attenuators do this, or i...

Re: Attn: Pink Floyd nuts
Never gave it much thought. It certainly has the patented chorus/phase sound that Waters favored, but that doesn't mean much. Yes, I'm a Floyd fan-if anything the tune is typical of Roger's over cynical view of the music industry, and the ultimate foretelling of The Wall. Or I might be over thinkin...

The reverb plays fine, no reversing of leads, etc...
I'm pretty sure it's the filter caps. I was pricing them. I found that I can get the Ruby brand caps a lot cheaper than Sprague Atoms. Are they up to snuff? I know to stay away from Illinois caps.

Re: Amp started humming very loudly
First check the Power Supply caps and Bias cap . It would not be unusual for them to go bad in 10+ years. They can visually look fine, measure them. I have seen the choke go bad too. The hum was higher than normal but not as loud as a bad cap. Check the Tube Bias and Current too. Mismatched Power t...

Re: Amp started humming very loudly
Yeah, it really seems that the caps went south. I'm just surprised that I don't have any "visual" evidence. Then again, those Atoms and Mallorys are very well constructed. I think I'm going to change the power tubes as well. I was looking at JJ's KT66 tubes, as I've been intrigued by KT66's for a wh...

Amp started humming very loudly
Went to my friend’s house, where I had my trusty old Super Reverb. Plugged in, and it was humming. LOUD. Tried to play through it, the bass notes sounded horrible, distorted, actually sounded like it was generating some weird harmonics because it made my guitar sound out of tune. I’m thinking the fi...

Re: Too much iron?
Well, Cesar Diaz said he put 100-watt transformers in SRV's 50-watt amps (Super Reverb, among others) so that gives you an idea what it does. It gives that big bottom sound. I like that sound, I don't like mushy tones.

What happened to the Fuchs Plush thread?
I'd been out of town for a while, so I was browsing my favorite forums and I couldn't find the thread about the Fuchs pedal. Was it deleted?

Re: 4 Ohm Airbrake??
Any idea whether this design would work with a 2-ohm amp, such as a bassman or super reverb?
