Re: re
...I like 2 16 ohms wired parallel instead of 2 4 ohms in series to get an 8 ohm 2/12 cab. It sounds like you get more bottom end. I agree...parallel is the way to go there. But I don't think you get more bottom...it sounds to me like the bottom tightens up; which can be perceived as being more. Pu...

FWIW, 8-ohm speakers sound smoother to me than 16-ohm ones...all other things being equal. The high-end on 16-ohm speakers is a little more choppy and not as clear.

Yeah...what speakers are those red-frame ones in the 2x12 tan cab? Tone-tubbies?
I remember seeing him at the China Club in LA back around 1990. He was using a 4x12 with his Dumble, and the tone was so piercing my ears rang for days.

If anyone knows of an SSS with a buffered FX loop, please advise. 6 x 12AX7s... 2 for the PI/driver 3 for the pre-amp (assuming fender-based with reverb) I notice the first SSS had tremelo, which would account for ...

I would say use the quad, or build a 50W with a Vibrosonic or Bassman OT, and use a Bassman PT. That's what HAD did for 50W, and that works bigtime!

Re: 124 Revised...Please SAVE!!
Anyone have any sound clips of a 124 build? I'm interested in what difference the 100k plates have on the overall tone. I posted these years ago: http://www.ayanmusic.com/audio.htm Gil That middle overdrive track (no PAB) is what I like to hear. The low-plates kill the high-plates for musicality in...

That's actually pretty close. In those two clips, I actually prefer the TR for that song. More character in that particular key, it seems.

The TR is buzzy and a little thinner than the Dumble. The Dumble is clear and has more girth in the lower end. Sounds almost like Dumble went with a mica cap where the TR went with a ceramic, though I know that may not be the case.
At least I didn't hear any "politician".

Hey...not to change the subject, but does anybody have a clue on the PI tail resistor in that last photo of the Odyssey posted by UHOP? I've got most of it and can guess most of what I can't see...but it'd save me a lot of time fooling around on that tail resistor. The standard Fender 22k (or standa...

Re: Dumbleland #009 Pics
From what I could find (based on all the old pics, blowing them up and studying them: It's basically a super-bassman or bassman-100 style driver with a cf driving the output tubes (cap coupled, not DC coupled like a bass amp). Nothing special really. I think Dumble could have crapped in a Bud box a...

Specifically, I'm looking to find out how the 12BH7 is set up. Is it similar to the way the cathode driver in the SSS is?
