Re: Opinions on a 45216 OT on a 61 Bamdmaster?

Thanks guys...thats in line with what my thoughts have been. I used to use 6L6GCs in the amp with no failure of the transformer so I think I am probably pretty safe with the lower powered 5881s (for which the amp was designed), and I like their earlier breakup. I have always found the amp to be loud...

Re: soft crackiling noise, am i being obsessivie?

Are you using D'Addario cables by any chance? I was having vibration related pops and buzzes especially on loud bass notes. Thought I had a cold solder joint and I chased it for quite a while. Eventually found that the A'ddario plug on my cord was the culprit...it is actually about a mm shorter than...

Re: Opinions on a 45216 OT on a 61 Bamdmaster?

I should also mention that the amp does have an ext spkr jack so it could have been anticipated that 2 8 ohm cabinets would have been connected resulting in a 4 ohm load. Also, I am running TungSol 5881s biased at abput 16 watts and the speaker is currently a Celestion Vintage 30.

Opinions on a 45216 OT on a 61 Bamdmaster?

My Bandmaster has a 45216 (4ohm) OT rather than the spec'd 45217 (8ohm). Date codes and amp history makes me think its original. The amp has a single 12" tone ring cabinet. Given the price of over $1500 Canadian that Reverb is quoting for a used original working replacement 45216 and since this is m...

Re: Blonde bandmaster tone caps

Hi. Thanks for the reply...I was refering to the tone cap..on the 6g7-a schematic the tone stack shows a .02uF attached to the bass pot but my amp came with .047s. The later version of the Bandmaster (AA763) uses .047s . The plate decoupling cap is .047, as you said.

Blonde bandmaster tone caps

My first post! ...exciting 😁... My question is along the lines of "but that's not what the schematic says..." My amp is a 61 blonde Bandmaster (single 12 with tone ring) and the tone caps are .047uF, but the 6G7-a schematic calls for 0.02uF. The caps are blue Molded like the rest of the caps on the ...
