Re: My Champ has a sound problem
Great i ll check the vht then. Rignt now the amp sound is good, both clean and crunch, i rarely push it even more so i don t think i am going to change anything, maybe the grid stopper on the power tube and the v1b bypass cap value with this one being the hardest choice, since i dont like having a s...

Re: My Champ has a sound problems
A few more things to think about when you are rebuilding or building in general: Here's an article on grounding that is relatively easy to understand. https://www.valvewizard.co.uk/Grounding.html Where you locate grounds tends to matter a lot less in pedals. The higher gain and more complicated tub...

Re: My Champ has a sound problems
That is something i need to address, soldering, wires and technics. Playing with pedals and basic effects building is all I had before this, obviously, a tube amp needs extra care and experience. Here the new board. New parts are coming i will be cleaning all the soldering. 838D8CBC-56C2-4049-B7B2-7...

Re: My Champ has a sound problems
Hey Mikante, Some nice tones are coming out of it. Congratulations on your first build. If it helps to know, it sounds similar to how I remember my champ sounding from years back. I recall I used to play it with the volume almost wide open, and then I rolled back the volume on the guitar for the be...

Re: My Champ has a sound problems
Is my first champ build, take it easy on him  As i said, it is not coming out from the video, but it is definitely better. I will be playing it loud to see if it doesn t get worse after some playing as it did before. Trust me if you were here you d notice. I d like not to add other components. ...

Re: My Champ has a sound problems
Thank you i understand now. I have added a 220k before pin 7 and replaced the bypass cap switch and feedback resistor. Replaced the blu wire with a shielded one and ground it both sides. Pictures is coming. Is there a way to attach a video without going through youtube? I made one. https://youtu.be/...

Re: My Champ has a sound problems
Your soldering skills may be a factor. I knew this was coming  I have ordered new turrets and parts, i will be cleaning this mess no questions about that. -mikante- v1a side pin 2 no need, it is ok to put 15k there, even with that layout maybe it is possible to fix, your volume wire is close t...

Re: My Champ has a sound problems
I ll take a look, thank you. The overdrive sounds good too but the problem i described gets even worse. The amp has a 470r screen resistor on the power tube. I have also tried grid stoppers on each tube and i don t like it, beside my personal taste, it didn t solve the problem. 220k isn t a bit too...

Re: My Champ has a sound problems
there are many things here..also you need to check with the scope what is going on. this amp doesnt have good overdrive? it is only acceptable, also sound depends a lot from the speaker. for better drive you need also more gain stages.. also PP amp which has better OD. then, you can use pedals? did...

My Champ has a sound problem
This was discussed before, my champ has some problem and i can not find out what it is. I have tried anything, tubes, speakers, guitars. I have checked every single components and soldering too, everything is as it should. What is driving me nuts is the fact that clean and right before the edge of b...

Re: 10 watt Fender Deluxe
I agree, partially, maybe is it because i haven t been trying too many amps. To me, it sounds about right when both final and preamp stages are at the right spot. If the final tubes are working at 20% while the preamp is pushed into overdrive you can definitly tell. The power stage is also adding so...

Re: 10 watt Fender Deluxe
Both clean and crunchy sound different with a master volume keeping down the power stage, that is something I really don t like. Could I play and enjoy it anyway? Of course but it would never be my first choice.

Re: 10 watt Fender Deluxe
I never liked an amp with a master volume. I tried many. I like my amp to be right on the edge of break up, no more, no less, 5 to 10 watt is the perfect range for me.

Re: 10 watt Fender Deluxe
Listen to Sluckey, he is trying to help you. If you don’t have a low voltage bias tap, you need a larger dropping resistor. Change the 470 ohm to somewhere around 100k on the ab763 circuit. This resistor value could be different depending on the output tubes and power transformer you choose, so it ...
