Re: Ab763 simplified design
Sorry but i thought you removed the 3.3m resistor, if it was me i did it by mistake. I will put it back.

Re: Ab763 simplified design
Thank you, i see now. If i get rid of the cathode cap in the second preamp stage, like the early 5f1, wouldn t that tame the gain a little bit? I could do that on both channels, they will both go through a further gain stage and as you said, there is going to be plenty of it anyway. I did that on my...

Re: Ab763 simplified design
Maybe something like this... Hello, thank you, you have modified the part right after the third gain stage where the tremolo was mixed in the original design, that part was a bitconfusing for me. Did you change anything else? Ok i have noticed now, both channels are going into the third pre amp tub...

Re: Ab763 simplified design
This may give you some ideas. Schematic at bottom of page... http://sluckeyamps.com/phoenix/phoenix.htm Cool thanks, this design does not include a third stage preamp tube, I really like the idea of being able to use the first channel for cleans and the second for more overdriven tones and then use...

Ab763 simplified design
Hello, Since my first build turned to be good, i fell like i need to add more challenge for my next one. I decided to use the ab763 deluxe design, i don t need either tremolo and reverb, i like ss rectified amp better, i like to jump channels, i like to have a mid control for the eq. So i have simpl...

Re: Tone control pot wiring question
Thank you,
I usually leave it in the middle position or slightly towards the highs.
The 4000pf has more high mids focus, i really like it.
I think i will try the 3300pf,

Re: Tone control pot wiring question
I don t know why i saw the 250pf i have double checked and the capacitor was 500pf in the first place. The other one was different, instead of a 4700pf i had isntalled a 4000pf, it is an old ceramic capacitor i bought on ebay to make a big muff triangle clone. The pedal was a complete failure so i h...

Re: Tone control pot wiring question
Actually the 250pf has something to it. As you said it doesn t have the same range, but it sounds great from half way towards the treble side. Then it gets crazy shrill and not usable but in that spot, I really like it.

Re: Tone control pot wiring question
I checked and for some reason i had a 250pf cap installed instead of the 500pf, this led me to think the wiring was different, because the difference was not as subtle as a 10% change in the pot value could ever make. By the way, as we say in italy sometimes the bad comes for the good, i really like...

Tone control pot wiring question
Hello, Today i have swapped the pots on my 5f2a fender clone for better ones, i had two very cheap pots on this amp and i wanted to replace them. I picked the first schematic that came out on the internet and wired both pots. I turned on my amp and started playing a little bit, i didn t expect to he...

Re: Adding screen resistor to a 5f2a fender
I don t know something must be wrong. Everything looks in the right place, voltages and bias are right, valves are new and tested, it should not sound this bad when i crank it. Converting it to 5f2a specification was actually an excuse to go over the circuit once again and look for mistakes. Might b...

Re: Adding screen resistor to a 5f2a fender
You can use any available low voltage AC source such as a filament transformer or an AC-AC power adapter. The voltage ratio is expected to be (8000/4)^0.5 = 44.7. Usually some relatively low voltage, say 6-12 VAC, is applied to the primary, and both the primary and secondary voltages are measured. ...

Re: Adding screen resistor to a 5f2a fender
Yes right now there is a 470ohm as a screen resistror. It is a common value for champs.
About the impedance, no I didn t. Should I check?
