Re: Strange loop hum

Stevem wrote: Thu Feb 08, 2024 10:57 am Are you ever actually going to play the amp like that, I would think not.

If you jump between the send and receive with a cable and there's no hum issue then call it good.

Probably i will not play like that, but i can't sleep if i don't resolve this

Re: New Amp Build

Lundahl are there only for weight saving :) and price increase  you can use torroids it is the same weight (light) and 5* cheaper (using magnetic flux of 1.5T like here (around) to have low number of turns and smaller core  possible problem in using high saturation core like here /di...

Re: New Amp Build

Very nice work! I'd love to see a schematic or just a description of the topology of each of your three channels. Is one of the channels a gain stage added? I'm kinda guessing based on the controls. Mike I don't have schematic, started from zero. 1-Clean channel ,2-drive channel-First stage paralle...

New Amp Build

Here is my new amp build : 100w 4xel34,6x12ax7, 3 channel, high end caps,C-core transformers and point to point wiring. Biggest challenge was this time to make PTP wiring in small chassis(470x195x60mm). I am still working on switching, but end result will be with headshell (Italian poplar) only 11.5...

PT current in AC or DC?

I don't understand this part of power transformer current ratings, i always see on Hammond,Edcor and similar only like Center tapped 300-0-300V 0.200A or 0-300V 0.200 A but on Hashimoto Power transformers they label current in AC and DC like on photo. can someone explain this? Re: New build nasty 100hz buzzing

100 hz hum can only be coming from the sections of the amp that run on DC, so forget about anything that has to do with the filaments which run on 50 cycle. You stated you have replaced the filters in search of solving this issue, did you also replace or at least jump out the bias filter(s) ? Any p...
