Re: "Blows Fuses" Debugging
I just looked at this thread as I had that fuse issue happening with flashing from the rectifier too. I was a bit short on time so I had to find the issue quickly (other work to be done inside the amp). Found out one of the first filters caps (two in serie) was shorted causing too much current draw...

Yes, its 49uF...under the 60uF rating of a GZ34.pompeiisneaks wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 3:31 am Did you ensure hte first filter cap isn't too much for the rectifier, they often have a max filter rating for the first filter node post rectifier.

Re: "Blows Fuses" Debugging
What would you recommend when an amp has a mind of it's own as far as blowing a fuse? I have an amp that seems to blow it when the standby switched is switched from on to off... only sometimes. Also, it may blow the fuse after playing for a while, and then suddenly just blows the fuse. And, sometime...

Re: Strange Distortion Noise
I figured this out... 2 things I believe were contributing to the problem ... I had bent the cathode pin 3 down toward the chassis (and pin 8) to separate the wire from the wire running from the Grid wire (pin 2 and 7). The Plate wire from Plate Pin 1 and 6 was laying on top of pin 3. This was likel...

Strange Distortion Noise
All, I have a strange issue that appears to be related \ isolated to the Reverb Circuit of a Princeton clone. When the volume gets above 7 there is a strange crackle \ distortion noise. When V2 is changed from an JJ AT7 (two of these do the same thing) to any AX7, problem goes away. Chopstick test d...

Re: Blues Master Questions, etc.
Maybe one of these would be useful as a starting place? I strongly encourage you to have a schematic that is an EXACT match to what you're wanting to do along with a layout to go with it prior to ordering parts. There are some editable SCH files of different Dumble amps. And there are schematics an...

Re: Blues Master Questions, etc.
are you guys running your low plate classics with a 12AY7 PI like the original 2nd gen amps ? That makes a difference to the volume/gain hitting the output section as it's lower gain than a 12AX7. I put a 12AX7 in mine originally as I thought louder was always better :D but after talking to Tony he...

Hello all!! I am about to attempt to build one of the Dumble ODS's. What are the tonal differences in the 124, 102 and Blues Master circuits? Sorry if this question is dumb..... ;-) Thank you. Perhaps you can make it easier on us if you could describe what you're looking for? Style Of music you pla...
