Re: Luigi Retro Custom
Yeah, I missed a few things when I got sent the review copy of the board. I need to add some text also for caps and a pad. I might add reference designators to the board also but I’m not sure about that. Lou did recommend only ordering the minimum of 5 boards in case I needed to change something lat...

Re: Luigi Retro Custom
I have to give props to Luigi for helping me with my pcb board. If you need any help with pcb’s for your amp contact him. He was very easy to communicate with and as a beginner that was very helpful to me. Thanks Lou

Re: Dirty Shirley Build
Yeah thats what i was wondering. Also, i’m not sure how he is visualizing the orientation of the socket in the layout. Looking from outside the chassis it should be

Re: Dirty Shirley Build
The iec sockets in diylc always mess me up. On your layout are your wires to the iec socket showing the connections of the rear of the socket (inside the amp chassis)?

Re: designed for a 6.6K Ohms impedance source.
Ok, that looks a lot better. Thanks very much. With changing speaker impedances and voltages while playing im imagine this line is moving a lot. I know i like my amps tap set at 8ohm into the 8ohm speaker load (3200ohms) better than when i set my amps tap to 4ohm into the same 8ohm speaker load. If ...

Re: designed for a 6.6K Ohms impedance source.
Ive been playing around a lot with this load line calculator. But im not sure what I should use for a correct reactive load resistance. I select EL34 pp pentode, for V+ ill enter my plate voltage 480. For Iq, ill enter my bias point 32Ma, but for reactive load Im not sure. Do they want the primary i...

Re: designed for a 6.6K Ohms impedance source.
I did notice that, im not educated enough to know if there would be a difference with AB.

Re: designed for a 6.6K Ohms impedance source.
Very informative, thanks. Ive been listening to some videos of 2nd and 3rd harmonic distortion examples. The 2nd has a very warm sound alone where the 3rd almost adds like a clear presence to it. Maybe ken fischer was trying to find that balance between the two with his different impedances?

Re: designed for a 6.6K Ohms impedance source.
When trying to get the right OT for an amp should we take into account “sag”voltage? I read that term now and then, i’m assuming its the b+ voltage at the plates and screens of the power tubes when the amp is being pushed pretty hard? This post got me thinking maybe my amps OT 3.2k primary impedance...

Re: HRP_50
Hello, does the fx loop work good when coming from the master volume instead of the treble pot into the fx loop then back out to the master volume pot? Ive always wondered.

Re: 2204 build, questions about capacitors and resistors
I would build it like the schematic first then try ceramics in the silver mica spots later to see if you like them more.

Re: 2204 build, questions about capacitors and resistors
Its all personal preference but i didnt like silver micas in the amp i made, kind of sounded too smooth in a way. I changed them out to ceramic which had a more aggressive top end to my ears. Not that their any better than other caps but i ended up using synergy caps for most coupling and bypass cap...

Re: Tight/Normal switch
The switch worked out great, no popping. Definitely feels different when engaged. Id only use it for the downtuned heavier stuff, as i get older that is more rare.
