Re: #002 Steel String Singer - almost there

... popcorn.jpeg Well, I think I need something stronger. I got a terrible hum: https://photos.app.goo.gl/GURBzRK223r8BSjd8 It's there, even if I pulled all the preamp tubes. When I pull the first PI tube, it's gone, no wonder. Ok, what's different to Ryans layout drawing: - jumpered all grounds of...

Done, except the FET and Reverb footswitch connector.

I power it up tomorrow. The last 2 solder joints had to be redone twice. I no more in the right condition for high voltage hassle.😂

#002 Steel String Singer - almost there

Hello all, it was a lot of work, but also fun to build. Reverb Transformer

Hello, I purchased the Vibro-King reverb transformer mentioned in Ryans non-mouser BOM. https://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/en/hammond-1750b-for-fender-reverb-024038.html Reverb Driver 024038 for Vibro-King Pri: 5482 Ohm Sec: 8 Ohm Power: 10 Watt It is slightly bigger and does not line up with the hol...

SSS heater lead dress

Greetings!

I'm just thinking, if it is a good idea, if I use Valve Wizards suggestion (pic 3)

on the reverb driver tube:

Maybe it's ok, but I wanna know for sure. I don't want to rip everything apart afterwards...

Thanks.

Re: 100w 2nd Gen. ODS build

Hey everybody, been a little while. I've almost got all my parts together but had a quick question about the boards. I got a steel chassis from Modulus Amplification and I'm gonna have to make my own board templates as the mounting centers are a little weird. (the preamp board mounting centers are ...

Re: #124 Power Transformer?

Tell me Gerhard, do you think the stated 1.5A rating is for both 6V and 12V supplies? The label on the TX in the photo, in the datasheet, says 'sec 4: 0V-6V-12V @ 1A...' From what I suspect from the datasheet, it should provide 1,5A @ 6 and 12 V. In case of heater supply, a Twin has 3 more preamp t...

Re: #124 Power Transformer?

I used a Hammond 290FEX (FX for 120VAC). Works perfect for me. But I wish it has a 12V winding for the relais power. If there is a next time, I would use this one instead: https://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/tt-dumble-style-100-watt-powertransformer.html It can provide more heater current and has the ...

Re: Hey Robben, where's your Dumble?

Does 102 still have F&T power supply capacitors? I have never liked the way they tend to color the sound, always feels like the magic midrange gets sucked out. I have a sneaking suspicion that swapping those out with something more appropriate would restore some of the lost qualities I am missing ....

Re: Before I Fire It Up... (Fender PA100 Conversion)

Very nice!
That's a lot of tubes in there. Heater current might be a bit high with 7 x 12AX7 for a Twin PT?
But what I'm talking, you must know it better than me. :D
