Re: Starting to populate the chassis....
No specific reason for the #124, I could have picked any of them really. If you are not married to the #124 Low-plate classic I would strongly suggest you go with the #0124 Low-plate Skyline https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5719 . Once you have a working amp you can always change con...

Re: Starting to populate the chassis....
Hey Brian, I don't think anyone is mad at you. If anything, I see concern for your safety while building this amp. Hopefully we can get you safely to the end goal of building one of these amazing amps. I would strongly advise against buying parts (or working on the amp) late at nights...ask me how I...

Re: Starting to populate the chassis....
Brian Not to get in a pissing match with you but no one ever "sent" you to drawings of #0183. Go and look at your post... you asked a question on how to wire up a bias board and you were told to look at how it was done in #0183. The drawings/schematics/layouts and knowledge on this site are all prov...

Re: Starting to populate the chassis....
Jumpers are all underneath the boards. All you guys run your wires under the boards and it's hard for us to see where they go. OK, I see what I missed, (heater wires) I'll take care of it tonight. Again, I am new at amp building, have done pedals, guitars, cars and choppers but this is my first amp...

Re: Hurrah, a new transformer.
I am wondering if the Ov on this drawing is the 53v tap? I have never seen this before, so I thought I'd check it first. The colour codes doesn't match the transformer. Primary: 230VAC, 50 HZ Secondaries: a) 420VDC @240mA FWCT, 330-0-330 VAC, 240mA with 53V bias tap b) 6.3V, 3.15A There are 4 x 0V ...

Re: 3rd Gen started
It was some time ago but I think it had to do with inductance and one side having a high-frequency roll off.martin manning wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 4:46 pm I might just have to give it a try. What did Merren have to say about? Did he have any explanation as to why it would matter?

Re: 3rd Gen started
You have to try it yourself Franco, lossy mp3's are not going to cut the mustard. I had to live with it for a while to properly understand what I was hearing. The A/B box allows you to hear the difference straightaway, subtle, but noticeable... it takes a matter of time to determine whether you pre...

Re: 2nd gen ODS with Erwin chassis.
Great job on the cab! Looks stunning!
I tried the same with the grill cloth (wetting it) and it worked great.
Great job on getting the half diamonds in the top left corner (same as HAD )

Re: ODS Filtering Question
Martin, I’m leaning toward experimenting with this. Just read a couple of threads where Charlie Wilson was writing about filter values and brands and had some really interesting insights regarding how they affect tone and feel. Given the vast breadth and depth of both his knowledge and experience; ...

Re: High-plate Skyline build
That first resistor in the dropping string surprised me. It’s what made me wonder if it had a particularly high B+. Very interesting amp……and you have confirmed it sounds good too! Tempted to convert a Bluesmaster build of mine into something similar. It's my favorite build so far. I have a good fr...
